“Superb Hotel, Stunning Location”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2008

We visited Harvey's Point recently and had a wonderful, relaxing break. The highlights were - warm Donegal welcome....pleasant surroundings...committed, attentive staff....beautiful bedrooms....great bathrooms.....stunning views......turf fires.......exqusite food. We only stayed one night but we will definately return as it is the best hotel we have ever stayed in. The attention to detail, food and staff easily make this hotel 5* standard. Worthy of particular mention is the lovely smiling 'Tara' who greeted us on arrival and Eamonn Gillespie who made our stay extra special.

Ever since i booked my break, i'd looked forward to it and i was not disappointed. I had an Executive room overlooking the Blue Stack mountains; it had net curtains for privacy but they blocked my view so i opened those and my view was perfect. it helped that i had perfect autumn weather with a cold sharp sun, but it was heaven indeed. the room was just massive, bigger than any i have ever stayed in and was luxury indeed - even the very bathroom was bigger than a lot of living rooms ive been in! there was a little ante-room/hall where i could have happily slept it was so cosy, but the bed was better! it was that big i never even knew there was someone else in it. and food was unreal. nothing was short of perfect. the whole atmosphere was one of complete relaxation and contentment, with soft lighting, quiet turf fires to sit by.it was a complete package. on the last morning of my visit i went for a walk alone following one of the rambling routes from the harveys guide - it was enough to whet my appetitie and i want to come back for more. i have never, ever, ever, stayed in a place where i felt so relaxed and even though i walked for over two hours as a lone female, i felt so safe. i have been in some good hotels before, but i came home and already i have told everyone i have met about it and have started to save to go back - harveys may not be cheap, but if you ever have to go to donegal just once, make this your place to stay. if i have one small point to make and it is only a point of constructive criticism - turn up the heat on the walkway from the bedrooms to the main part of the hotel - it is freezing!!!!

  • Liked — perfect solitude
  • Disliked — piped bathroom music - would be nice on a romantic break to use my own music.

Suoer sized bedrooms with comfortable bed and spacious bathroom.Breakfast was hectic as there was a wedding party and we had to queue for the buffet. The hotel is remote in a nice setting .The food is average. My sister returned her steak and mine wasnt much better.Generally poor value for money especially with no leisure or Spa facilities.

We stayed in the Penthouse for our wedding anniversary on the 20th of August. We had received a voucher as a gift from Harvey's Point as we'd had our wedding reception there 3 years ago. We were so glad that we had paid an upgrade as i can only describe it as maginficant! The staff, the service, the food and the penthouse were wonderful! Everything about this hotel is superb, we have stayed in some fantasic 5 *hotels all over the world and Harvey's Point is really up there with the best of them. It should be really re classified as a 5* hotel. Our wedding anniversary was just magical. Book you will not be disappointed!!

Myself and My husband stayed in Harvey's Point in August 2008. I had heard and read a lot about the splendour of Harvey's Point and everything I have ever seen or heard about this place has always been 1st class. We booked from the Hotel's own web site a few days before we were due to go and we got a very good rate. On arrival we were greeted by the hotel receptionist who was very friendly and helpful, she offered to take our bags from the car to our room. We were staying in one of the courtyard room’s, number 402. On arriving in the room I was disappointed with the size of the room. It is not much bigger than an average size room. This does seem to be the most basic of all the rooms from what I can gather. The room is adequate and services the purpose for which it was intended but I would say that if you are looking for luxury do not book a Courtyard standard room. The room has a flat screen TV, Tea and Coffee making facilities, hairdryer, Iron and Ironing board, Bath robes and slippers. Shampoo, shower gel and bath salts. The shower is over the bath and I would have liked a shower cap, but I may have been able to get this from reception if I had asked. A very nice touch was when we returned to our rooms in the evening our bed was turned down and there was a box with a couple of chocolates. It was a little noisy as the bed is close to the window and this leads right out to the pathway which other guest use to get to their rooms. We had to leave our curtains closed all the time as you could see right into the room when passing as there was only a cafe style net curtain if the curtains were open. The views from the hotel are fantastic and it is very peaceful and relaxing. We only had breakfast in the hotel which was really nice. We had to wait a few of minutes to be seated as the restaurant was very busy. We were given orange juice and asked to wait in the seats outside the restaurant door. I was expecting to have to wait 15 or 20 minutes but we were seated within 5 minutes at a table with a view of the lake. The staff in the restaurant were lovely and very hopeful. Breakfast was everything you would expect from a 4* hotel. There was a choice of a cooked breakfast, all the usual fruit drinks and a smoothie, cereal, fruit, yogurt, toast, wheaten bread, cheese and ham, sweat breads and muffins. All in all our stay in Harvey's Point was really nice. I just wish I had spent some more money and booked a better room. I am sure it would have been money well spent.

Wow Wow Wow!

What a stunning hotel/location.

I brought my husband here for his 40th birthday. We stayed one night in the executive suite which was HUGE .... had a stunning meal in the resturaunt, the food was outstanding, the staff were very helpful and friendly. I have never been to a hotel like this in my life and would reccomend it for a romantic getaway.

The bathroom was to die for, all marble with a round corner bath, music and great big fluffy towels and robes. One night in Heaven ..... amazing place!
