“Oh My God What a Hotel!”
Reviewed 10 September 2007

The hotel is magnificent and we have never experienced such incredible service before. We stayed here for our engagement on 8/9/07 and from the second we stepped out of the car we where treated like royalty. Stayed in an Executive Room and it was the best room I've ever stayed in. The hotel restaurant is out of this world with food to die for.
The one thing I will say is that the restaurant is far to warm but I did raise this at check out.
We have stayed in some nice 4 & 5 star hotels but we will assure you that nothing compares to this hotel. You won't want to leave the peace and tranquility of the hotel.

Looking forward to our next visit.

I can only echo the other opinions voiced by reviewers. Harvey's Point is an exceptional hotel by Irish standards. The Executive suite my wife and I shared was huge and sumptuous. Yet it is worth pointing out a few things simply for the sake of clarity. Firstly, if you require a meal from (a typically expensive) room service menu there is a 'delivery charge' of 6 Euros. And that is per person! Unless the meal is being delivered in two separate taxis from Donegal town, I fail to understand the logic of this. Secondly, while the hotel's website may suggest that you will escape children (for instance, it says that the hotel 'scene' is adult and there is no children's menu) be warned: we saw quite a few toddlers and babies on our weekend stay, and the hotel even had babychairs in the restaurant! There were three weddings taking place during our stay which may account for this, but as Harvey's cater for many weddings, this may not be that untypical. This was no hardship for us as we love having babies around, but those wishing to escape the kids should be aware that Harvey's is not totally child free. Finally, the 'lake view' from our room was a little disappointing; it could be seen through the trees and over the top of hotel buildings, but it certainly wasn't a clear, unbroken view of the water.

Having said all this, Harvey's Point was still by some way the best hotel we've yet visited. The staff are friendly and discrete, the breakfast was delicious ( the best my wife and I have had in a hotel ), the surroundings are peaceful and beautiful and my wife could barely tear herself away from the amazing, huge and glamorous bathroom. As long as you are aware of the niggles above, you will love Harvey's Point. And the deeper your pockets are, the more you will enjoy it. Oh, one final thought: if I pay £200 a night for a room, it's a bit patronising saying on the bar price list that tea and coffee are 'Complimentary'! It would be nice if that was changed to 'Included in the Price'!

I recently stayed at Harvey's point where I spent an excellent night in a five star room for the amazing price of €99. This place is exceptional.
