SO Amazing the views off the Lough (Eske) and the Blue Stack Mountains.....Breathtaking Waterfalls in Many areas off the mountains, little rivers running down taking little sticks and leaves with it... The sound off the running wee streams is so beautiful. So Quiet Ye could hear bees buzzing in the wildflowers. Sheep up on the hills....What more could Ye want except a wee cottage in the middle off it!!
The only problem with the route - we came to 2 dead ends and was very frustrating - however we did find our way in the end.
We took a drive along the Bluestack scenic tour route. the views of the mountains and ocean were well worth the drive. There was a tall waterfall that we were able to take pictures of . plenty of friendly sheep along the way.
While driving to donegal with my son...we came upon these magnificent mountains....even driving the scenery is magnificent..these mountains totally overlook the road and surrounding countryside and are awesome. ..then while leaving donegal as you drive to derry look to the left of you and the mountains have littke streams and waterfalls coming from these magnificent mountains ....the views are magnificent ....well worth a visit ..
We loved this area for hiking or driving, but be warned that the roads are very narrow and curvy, so drive with utmost caution! The views around the mountains are gorgeous. Wear good boots as there are sheep everywhere!
I really enjoyed to walk in the Bluestack moutains. You are at the same time between ocean (when weather is good), and the countryside (beautiful hills and valleys). Just a regret : electric turbines are being built. If it's a good solution for environement, it's not so pleasant to walk beside. Don't foget to close all the gates you need to open because of the sheeps.
