He has said it all for me. Same trip and even the weather was great I would also recommend a trip on the Waterbus and we did see the seals. The area is very beautiful indeed. Many thanks to our wonderful driver Terry.

Room Tip: On the front overlooking the square.

Perfect hotel with perfect location! Stumbled upon this town and hotel on our trip but wouldn't miss it on our next trip. Not use to not having no air conditioner but managed with window opened at night.

I stayed here for 5 days out of 7 on a National Holidays Coach Break, The staff are friendly, it seems very well organised, the room was very clean and everything worked beautifully, the room was spacious and the bathroom had everything needed and the shower worked very well.
Clean towels were given and the main room and bathroom was serviced well each day.

The waiters & waitresses were very thoughtful and soon came to the rescue should you need anything that was required, the tables were soon cleared of used pots etc.
The reception staff were very helpful and also very pleasant, as too were all the bar staff and domestics.
It was a pleasure to stay here, if you wanted to use fitness facilities etc free usage of the sister hotel only doors away is available, there are good eating and drinking places within walking distance including the Reel Bar, a proper Irish traditional pub with dancers and singers on in the evening, really good.
A good hotel used by National Holidays, would definitely do the tour again if this hotel was used and indeed if it was used for others to Ireland.
Would also seriously consider it if going on own travel.
We had the room at the top with a dormer, it was a great view of the square right outside the hotel is a taxi standing.

It has good bars in the hotel plenty of seating and space, with friendly helpful staff.
There is evening entertainment on for those who wanted to stay at the hotel.

A Great Place Would Recommend.

Room Tip: I think you will find all rooms will be good nobody on the coach trip 48 folk had any bad comments, and all seemed happy for the 5 day period.

We booked an executive room overlooking the river and it was nicely furnished, a great size with everything we needed. You had to stretch your head over a sofa to see the river properly but the great location in Donegal made up for that. Car parking at the nearby Quay car park was included through a disc offered by Reception and the staff were friendly enough. The hotel is frequented by elderly coach parties, and as we were there on a Thursday night there was thankfully no night club to disturb us. Having read the comments on Tipadvisor, I had already requested a quiet room and we had just that.
The bar was brightly lit and lacked atmosphere so we went elsewhere to eat and drink. Try the Reel Inn for music and The Castle Bar (on the left and just up the road on the opposite side) for great food.
Our biggest disappointment was the breakfast. It was very canteen like and clearly designed to get the crowds through at maximum speed. There was no fruit or yogurt, just a range of unappetising cereals and a hot food area where you picked up your tray and pointed to what you wanted, just like school dinners. We were asked if we were with a group and when we said no a rather surly manageress pointed to a small area where tables were not laid, other than with cups and saucers in a pile.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay at The Abbey Hotel with the exception of the breakfast and we would stay there again but, at the price, it was 150 Euros for one night, we would consider other alternatives as well.

Room Tip: Go for a quiet superior room overlooking the river and if it is not included in the price, avoid the breakfast
