“A gem of a find and great service”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 April 2014

Just back from an amazing Ireland visit today. Stayed in Belfast, Donegal, Galway and Sligo. Our 3 night experience at the Donegal Manor was really good with the character of this lovely guesthouse far exceeding all the hotels we stayed at in our other locations. We stayed in the Red Hugh room - really large, plenty of cupboard and drawer space, piping hot bath/shower and spotlessly clean. The great atmosphere can be put down to the presence and example set by Sian and Michael who take personal responsibility to ensure their guests are being looked after. The guest house is a 5 minute drive into Donegal. Michael offered us a lift in to town, and I understand that this is not a one off for us. If he is going in to do the shopping then he will always try to fit it around dropping you off at one of the good restaurants we ate at. Breakfast was great and a cup of tea and cake were welcome offerings. My partner and I would most definitely go back and I can and will highly recommend this establishment. Thanks for making our stay so memorable.

We stayed at the Donegal Manor for one night recently and were really impressed. It is a few minutes drive from Donegal town centre and has plenty of parking (return taxi to town centre about 10 euros). We had a very big bedroom with good-sized bathroom. What makes the Donegal Manor outstanding, however, is the warm welcome and friendliness of the owners, Sian and Michael and the delicious breakfast. As well as the usual cereals there are wonderful fruit compotes, seeds and nuts and the presentation of the hot food is beautifully done. (Our selections were the pancakes and the scrambled egg with smoked salmon). The entrance hall has a big fireplace where a fire was quickly lit on our arrival and we sampled the lovely traybakes which are freely available for guests, when we had a final cup of coffee in our room in the evening.

We certainly will return and can happily recommend the Donegal Manor

We received a wonderful welcome from Sian and her husband. Arriving in the late afternoon we were offered homemade cakes and tea and given a choice of rooms. The room was thoughtfully equipped and pleasantly spacious, with an extremely large and comfortable bed.
The breakfast was magnificent, all manner of healthy, delicious nuts, cereals, fruit and yogurts, as well as the freshly cooked Ulster fry with plenty of proper coffee.
And it was all great value!

My husband and I were in donegal manor guesthouse while at a wedding in donegal. We found this guesthouse to be amazing from the minute we arrived to minute we left. The owners were so welcoming and friendly they made us feel so welcome. They even offered us teas and coffees every time they saw us.

The rooms were spacious and comfortable and clean. The guesthouse was in perfect location as it was only a cheap taxi run away.

The breakfast was the nicest we had ever eaten well cooked and was presented and all fresh ingredients. The waitresses was so nice and friendly.

So overall we would highly recommend this guesthouse. We will be back :)

I first stayed here in 2005, not long after this purpose-built guesthouse opened for business. This past August was, I believe, my 4th or 5th stay at Donegal Manor and, as always, it was very, very nice. We've always been met by either Michael or John (I think that's his name - Sian and Michael's son) with an offer to carry our luggage up the stairs. Always much appreciated. Unfortunately, Sian was out of town this year, but her husband Michael and the staff took very good care of my small group of 8 women. The en suite rooms are probably the largest of all the 8 hotels and B&Bs we enjoyed during our 15-day jaunt through Ireland. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are fresh and nicely appointed. Housekeeping keeps everything in tip top shape. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious, and there's always some tasty cake or pastry available to guests in the lounge. The location is ideal -- a quiet oasis only a few short kms from Donegal Town's Diamond. We like to enjoy the hustle and bustle of a city or town while shops are open, but love to get away from it all when it's time to retire (but then we have a vehicle, so distances are not a problem.) Donegal Manor is perfect in that regard and also has ample parking just steps from the front door.

I think Donegal Manor is very reasonably priced and offers a lot of value for the money! Prior to discovering Donegal Manor, I had stayed at 3 other properties in/near Donegal Town. They don't hold a candle to this lovely manor house. I can assure you that you will be treated graciously and royally here.
