“The Perfect Mini Honeymoon Spot”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

My new husband and I spent 3 nights here for our mini honeymoon. And we were over the moon with Lough Eske Castle.

The staff are uber-friendly, polite and they really go the extra mile. The Solis Spa is heavenly and reasonably priced for the place which just won Ireland's Best Spa 2012. We had 2 treatments each. But beware - the Spa is very busy and you may have to wait days for an appointment.
Our room was gorgeous - we took advantage of the 3 nights for the price of 2 deal and had a suite. It was large with an enormous bathroom, separate living room, 4 poster bed and it was beautifully decorated.

The fitness suite is good for a hotel - not too small and with a view, not tucked away in a basement. The pool is lovely and be sure to take advantage of the separate wellness centre just past the Spa reception desk. It has a sauna, steam room, hydrotherapy pool and relaxation room with free magazines and drinks.

Re. food. The breakfasts are hard to beat with a large buffet and the separate egg station. The omelettes are so yummy. Just watch out because breakfast time is incredibly busy.
We also ate in the Gallery Bar - and it's really top-notch bar food. The staff also treated us with free cocktails in the bar because it was our honeymoon.

Just watch out for hidden charges, such as 5 Euros for room service and even more if you request some ice.

Overall, we were very pleased with the price, the value-for-money and every little thing about our stay. 3 nights were not enough and we will definitely go back.

Room Tip: Request a room in the main hotel.

We splurged for a night here and it was soooo worth it! Our room was inside the castle but there were many rooms in buildings surrounding the main castle. The restaurant and bars inside were great - casual not formal. service was impeccable. I was even told at dinner to ask for a certain bartender when I went to the lobby bar because they had informed him how I like my martinis. Now thats service! Only issue was that it was booked solid the next night due to a wedding. It was very difficult to go back to B&B's after this experience. I will definitely be staying here again!

My new favourite hotel! I cannot fault anything about this hotel. Arrival was smooth and well coordinated with a smile. The room was a suite and was exceptional. Everyone loves the heated bathroom floor (hope that doesn't ruin the surprise). The food in the restaurant is top notch and then the entertainment, cocktails and selection of drinks in the bar after made the whole stay memorable for all the right reasons.

I would highly recommend the Lough Eske Castle for a number of occasions. I have stayed there with my girlfriend, I have held meeting here and also called in for lunch. Every time the level of service and attention to details never let me down. All their awards are well deserved.

Room Tip: Room 113 is a suite and very nice.

We are staying here right now, everything about our stay so far has been top notch from the initial welcome by the porter, to the delicious Irish breakfasts, to the pool, gym and spa facilities...but what really makes it so amazing is the room, I think we may have got lucky but we got a room in the castle itself which came with a 4 poster bed, and everything you want out of a luxury romantic room.. Staff are all very friendly, helpful, and the egg chef at breakfast is a legend!

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are superb

We stayed at the 5 star Lough Eske Castle for a one night break in March
The first impressions were top class, beautiful reception, long walk to bedrooms however
worth the walk as the rooms are beautiful. very spacious and clean. Bathroom products luxurious. Personally next time i would have dinner in the bar as the menu offers more of our taste however service was impeccable in the restaurant. Breakfast, what a selection! I could have stayed all day, crepes, omlettes, full irish along with mouthwatering cheese, breads, meats and pasteries. lovely walks around the hotel and bar prices are very acceptable for a 5 star establishment. Staff were friendly and we will certainly return. the only downside is having to walk outside to go to the spa if the weather is cold or wet.

Stayed two nights here - what a great place to get away from it all. The double room was amazing, the largest I've ever stayed in. It had a four poster bed, a sofa and table and two side cabinets, a wall mouinted LCD tv and internet access both wired and wireless. There was a walk in wardrobe and a massive bathroom with a separate shower bath and double sink and a heated floor. The only draw back with the room was no biscuits with the complimentary tea and coffee.
The rest of the hotel is beautiful, all the lobby rooms have large sofas and settees with open fires. The food in the hotel is superb, we dined in the main restaurant on one night and the bar on the second night and could find no fault with either. The hotel breakfast is amazing so much variety and perfectly prepared. One of the stand out things about the hotel was its staff who never passed you without greeting you. When we arrived we were welcomed at the door by Michael who took our bags and after check in guided us to our room and showed us all the facilites. The staff couldn't have been more helpful and were always willing to have a conversation with you and do anything to make our stay more perfect. We were really amazed by the response to a drinks order not arriving to our room - the barman personally came and apologised to us at dinner and insisted we come to the bar afterwards for a complimentary drink from the bar. The dining room staff also ensured we took up the offer. When arrived at the bar the barman apologised again and let has any drink we wanted from an extensive list.
Used the hotel's gym and pool and spa facilities. The swimming pool was lovely, although disappointed there was no sauna and the steam room was hidden slightly with no signage pointing towards it.
The gym was disappointing, a smallest room and the 2 running machines were so noisy and the TV monitors didn't work on either - they would need to be serviced. Because the roof is so low when using the running machines a tall person is too close to the roof. Overall the leisure facilities didn't match up to the rest of the hotel's quality.
The spa facilites were enjoyed by girlfriend were she had a great treatment.
All in all a perfect hotel to get away from it all and get some quality relaxation and I would definately go back again

Room Tip: Rooms in the main hotel - rooms in the "stables" I believe are smaller.
