Just back from a mid week break at Lough Eske Castle, this is the third visit and will not be my last. A great place to relax and use the Spa facilities , pity that the relaxation room is now closed to guests unless they are having a spa treatment. Great food we tended to eat in the bar/lounge area in the evening, good menu and reasonable price. Staff friendly and we enjoy the relaxation of the many rooms you can sit in by the fire and read. We have stayed in the Hotel and this is the second time we stayed in the courtyard rooms , they are excellent and very close to the main building. I would highly recommend this hotel.but be warned! You will want to go back .

Room Tip: All the rooms are spacious and excellent

This castle hotel is superb. Rooms are luxurious, service impeccable, food fantastic. The staff are so warm and friendly. This hotel is a magnificent development where clearly no expense has been spared. Very reasonably priced, do yourself a favour and stay a night or two. Don't forget your swimmers for the pool and spa!

If you are in the Donegal area (or anywhere in Ireland for that matter), this is the place to stay. The staff went above and beyond to help us wth directions and reservations and bringing luggage to our room. The room was huge and comfortable. The bathroom was a suite unto itself - large spa tub in the main area with seperate rainforest shower room and toilet room. The hotel's history is worth reading and they have kept the main part of the castle true to its heritage. Breakfast was delicious and relaxing. Our last evening there, we ate at the castle. Again, the staff were more like friends and the food was wonderful. I even managed to get the recipe for the Bread and Butter Pudding from breakfast and the Shepard's Pie from dinner. If you want to explore, you can go on foot or use one of the many old fashioned bicycles. Grounds are spectacular. There are paths to the lake, and unexpected treasures along the long, treed driveway - castle ruins with dragon statue, an old monumental grave. My daughter and I were on vacation and we did a lot of day trips so we didn't get to experience the spa, but I will definitely go back with my husband and do just that. I will also do less day trips in order to enjoy the many common rooms to read, relax, have a drink.

Room Tip: Having only stayed there once, I can't compare rooms but our room was on the first floor behind...

The Lough Eske Castle is truly a magical place -- after taking a few (slightly scary) back roads to get to the property, you are rewarded with a lovely old castle sitting on a beautiful piece of property.

The service was top notch from the check-in to the breakfast service; we spent a lot of time in the bar in the evenings and the bar staff were all super friendly and efficient. We really liked hanging out there.

Our room was HUGE, super clean, and very modern while still keeping with the castle vibe. The bathroom was enormous as well with heated floors and a huge soaker tub and a wonderful rainfall shower.

Breakfast each morning was great with freshly cooked eggs to order plus everything you'd want for a full Irish breakfast. I was partial to the continental breakfast bar which included an amazing bread pudding (I kind of want some right now!) and delicious fresh-baked brown bread.

A couple of minor issues: no air conditioning ... which I guess was fine, but always find hotel rooms to be kind of stuffy without air ventilation. Fortunately we could easily open our French doors to the outside and get some fresh air. There were also a few spots where the common areas (mainly the halls) seemed to need a little TLC (scuffed baseboards, worn carpet.)

But overall, I'd go back here in a heartbeat and I sort of wish we had more time to explore the extensive and gorgeous hotel grounds.

Nice place and nice staff. Very helpful, providing directions, suggestions, ice, and a fan with a smiling attitude. Grounds are gorgeous. I did not rate at 5 stars for the following reasons: no air in rooms (hallways were perfect temp and we had to open our windows and door to get circulation), unable to book spa on same day (a problem for those traveling the country and only staying one or two days at each place) and noisy construction. Bathrooms are lovely with heated floors and heated towels. Overall, very pleased and this is hands down the most beautifully maintained property we have ever stayed.

This is best by far from all the hotels my husband and i have stayed in we are actually heading back in april again. Friendly staff rooms spotless food was delicious. IT was my 40th and they even made me a cake and left it in my room, not many hotels do that free.

Room Tip: always read the reviews first only reason we didnt rate the spa is we didnt use it to busy out sight...
