“Stunning Hotel, Astonishing Service, Beautiful Spa, Great Food!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 November 2013

If you're looking for a memorable hotel near Donegal Town - look no further. Lough Eske Castle captures the true essence of NorthWest Ireland. This hotel is not only beautiful with gorgeous rooms, but the service is top notch and the spa is incredible. The restaurant/bar has fantastic food and great beverages as well. The location is also lovely - close to Donegal Town but not in the city center. Easy Access to the surrounding beautiful countryside. Love it! My only "critique" would be how expensive breakfast is, if it's not included in your rate. If you don't have breakfast included, skip the hotel restaurant and find a restaurant in the area for food that's just as good but 1/3 the price!

Room Tip: The rooms are very nice.

Beautiful new hotel built around the facade of the ancient mansion. Large bedroom with 4 poster bed. Huge bathroom with bathtub (comes with a candle and matches), separate shower, and two sinks. Great location to explore NW Ireland and the hotel is secluded and off the main road. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was excellent (omelettes made to your taste). Had dinner one night in the bar and did not think it matched the rest of our experience. We would are looking forward to returning.

Stayed for two nights here. Erno the concierge is very pleasant and welcoming. Dined in the bar, not a great selection of food and quite expensive for side orders. Greg and Marie gave us excellent service. Breakfast is amazing, Owen the chef prepares omelettes and homemade pancakes at his station. Delicious. The natural yoghurts were lovely also. All the eggs are cooked to order and were really good. Julia looked after us very well both mornings.
Gardens are amazing, overall a very nice hotel.

This was our second time staying at this wonderful hotel and we will be back for a third!
The actual hotel is beautiful and tastefully furnished but what really makes this hotel different from others is the quality of staff. Nothing is too much trouble for them, very courteous and helpful. We ate both nights in Cedars restaurant and found the food delicious infact I have never had a steak so good! We also had afternoon tea which was a lovely experience too. Overall a fantastic break away to relax!

We stayed at Lough Eske Castle for two nights during our trip across Ireland. The accommodations were absolutely beautiful and the staff was extremely friendly. Our room was extremely clean and spacious. The décor was classic and tasteful. We also ate at the hotel our first night and the food was unparalleled in the area. We ate breakfast both mornings and could not have been more impressed with the selection and preparation. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The grounds are also quite beautiful and I would recommend a stroll around the gardens. The artwork is just spectacular. I have recommended Lough Eske to others traveling in the area and we certainly make reservations for our next stay in Donegal.

Such an incredibly beautiful hotel. Probably the nicest we've stayed in. It was like a dream setting. castle on a lake. The room was spectacular! The grounds and sculpture was amazing. Great art collection in the hotel. This would be a wonderful setting for a wedding. The restaurant was good- breakfast and dinner. The location was out of this world- tucked away in the woods.

Well, we found our little bit of paradise. This was our second stop on an eight day tour of Ireland, but first in our hearts. Service, food and room all 'five star'. Our room was the highlight of our stay, as it was spacious, comfortable and luxurious. There was a huge bathroom with an equally large tub. It is evident from the moment you enter the hotel that the staff is professionally trained in the art of true customer service. We engaged with the bellman, front desk restaraunt and maintenance staff. We were treated as if we were the only guest in the hotel.
