“A royalty like experience”

Stayed here very recently. It was a fantastic experience. When we arrived, a member of the staff offered to park our car for us. He took our luggage to our room and showed us the various in room facilities and explained where the other hotel facilities were located, even though the receptionist had already explained many of these. The staff were excellent, very caring and observant. As my wife has slight mobility problems, the receptionist offered us a disability room closer to the lift. She had noticed my wife had a walking stick and explained the room we were originally to have was located at the other end of the hotel with long corridors and 2 lifts to negotiate. The restaurant staff were also very friendly and helpful. They remembered our names every time we met them, even after our 3 days had finished. I've never encountered this in any other hotel. This also applied to the other hotel staff. We also has a personal server in the restaurant on both nights we had our meals which were excellent as were the breakfasts. Although our break was for only 2 nights it was a memorable experience. Would definitely return sometime again.

Room Tip: We had the deluxe room as it was part of a deal package. If you can afford to upgrade to a junior su...

We were a group of four ladies. We enjoyed a couple of days of great food, leisurely walks and a few gorgeous spa treatments, pure bliss! We had good in the bar and the breakfasts were delicious, especially the omelettes. Would definitely stay again!

Just back from another blissful night at Solis (having been a few years ago), and thought it best to review as it has been a while.

Check in – very pleasant Reception greeting, and we were escorted to our room by a friendly concierge, who showed us different parts of the hotel room. It was again a great size, with a bathroom a king would envy! Two sinks, a marble bath, a walk-in toilet cubicle, and a separate large walk-in shower, very nice if you’re wanting a soak while away!

We were here for a special birthday, so it was slightly disappointing as I had told the reservations team on booking and they said they would arrange something, but nothing was left in the room. The hotel was fully booked so I suppose unfair to criticise.

The spa is a short walk outside away from the rooms through the gardens out back, you can walk from bedroom to spa in dressing gowns left in the walk-in cupboard, so it was nice heading over.

Dinner in Cedars we could not have faulted, we had four courses from the a la carte, menu and every course was of top quality. Provenance seems to be a big part of the hotels focus so good mention of where the local meats were sourced. After dinner we were so full that we just went to bed, but having looked in to the hotel bar there did seem to be plenty of activity.

We went mid-week, so the cosy stone basement bar was closed, but I presume this opens up on weekends.

Unfortunately we didn’t sleep the entire night (nothing funny), the concierge had failed to tell us that the room has underfloor heating, and so if you turn the temperature down to a colder temperature, it will take a full 6 hours to feel a noticeable difference in the room. Therefore be warned! If you do not like lying in a hot hotel room after a large meal, crank down the thermostat early on.

Breakfast in the morning was in the same restaurant as dinner, Cedar’s, a very nice setting looking over the front of the hotel grounds. A 5* breakfast menu, and I think I created my own ‘4 course’ breakfast! Only problem was the queue when getting in to sit down, the restaurant was full so we had a 10/15 minute wait, but a waitress did mention the hotel was full so I suppose these things happen.

In summary, I’ll definitely be returning again to Solis Lough Eske, definitely a hotel away from home, which is worth the visit for a luxurious trip away.

Room Tip: Make sure to look at the thermostat early on and crank down before you go for dinner. Also our room...

My wife bought me a trip here for my birthday last year. It's a lovely hotel set in spacious surroundings. The hotel is luxurious, the staff friendly and helpful and the food was great. The spa was good, although you will have to book any treatments in advance. Great selection of whiskeys in the bar - I did sample quite a few of them.
Looking forward to my next visit already!

Had a fabulous day at lough eske castle solis spa, staff are all so pleasent & helpful. There is a great range of treatments to choose from & the girls certainly know how to get rid of those knotted muscles. Followed this with a delicious afternoon tea with a very entertaining & attentive waiter. The non alcoholic cocktail for my tea total mother was a lovely touch. The peace & ambiance of the castle & grounds make it the perfect place to relax & get away from the everyday stress. I am already planning the next trip.

We stayed for 2 nights in Lough Eske Castle and what can I say other than FANTASTIC!! The drive up to the hotel is beautiful. We were a few hours early but there was no problem with leaving our bags in behind the reception while we went off to explore the castle. Upon returning we found out our bags had been brought to the room for us and we were kindly shown to our room. It was as lovely touch that the bags were brought to the room, and one which other hotels should take note of.
We were staying in a deluxe room, and on our first look I think both of our mouths dropped at the sheer size and luxury of the room. The bed was huge, and very comfortable. I was particularly impressed by the bathroom, and the splendor of it.
We ate in the Cedars grill restaurant on our first night and enjoyed a beautiful 3 course dinner, and adjourned to the bar for the night. We indulged in a number of cocktails, all of which were made to perfection. We ate in the gallery bar for the rest of the weekend, and it was also nice. The hotel even obliged us rugby fans to show the Ireland Vs England six nations clash in the oak bar. The breakfast offered a wide selection and a particular mention is given to the chef at the egg station who always had something to chat about in the mornings despite being very busy!
The staff at Lough Eske Castle should be noted in particular for being extremely friendly and willing to do more than required to meet the guests needs.
We visited the swimming pool and thermal suites a number of times over the weekend, whilst we did not indulge in the spa, the facilties offered were to a high standard with extra touches such as a relaxing room with herbal teas and magazines available.
One of the selling points for me in this hotel was the availablity of 'reading rooms'. A huge open fire with a good book is a definite selling point for me and Lough Eske castle had an abundance of these, there were a number of these rooms with large comfortable sofas to spend an afternoon reading.
Overall, we cannot wait to get back to this very special hotel, and we are already planning our trip back!!

Really lovely experience. Can barely fault this place, other than food in Cedars restaurant which is quite expensive and small portions. Breakfast was excellent, as was food in Oak Grill Bar.
Service was especially good, all staff were friendly and helpful. Bedroom/Bathroom were lovely - clean and roomy.
Location is great also.
Would recommend this hotel.
