My wife and I stayed here twice in the last 12 months. This is a great hotel for a quiet break where you can kick back, relax and get away from it all.

The stand out feature of this hotel is the staff. They are friendly and efficient and genuinely seem to want their guests to have as good a stay as possible.

The rooms that we stayed in were both very luxurious and the room on the corner upstairs (cant remember the number) was particularly special. It was spacious with high ceilings and had a large 4 post bed with elegant antique furniture and a huge bathroom.

The downstairs bar is a great place to spend a quiet afternoon or evening. There is an excellent selection of beers, wines and whiskeys available to cater for all tastes.

The breakfast served in the restaurant is one of the best you will find anywhere. Full irish, eggs benedict, kippers, fresh fruit, omelette anything you can think of is available and extremely tasty.

The Spa experience (according to my wife) was excellent with great facilitues and well trained staff.

The only part of the hotel where I feel there is room for improvement is the restaurant in the evening. The food is good but could be better and falls behind the very high standards set in other areas.

came here for only one night in November really wished we had stayed for two. Had a special offer that included meal and breakfast unfortunately so did everyone else so the bar was really busy afterwards and there was only one bar man and no seats However after waiting 20 mins to be served the bar man did give us the drinks on the house which was very decent of him as a pint of Guinness and scotch with diet coke costs 18.50 euro!! The ambiance was brilliant and the food and facilities very good Very cosy and will return

One night stay over with my wife as a birthday present trip for her.

Location of hotel is beautiful beside the Lough Eske for nice walk/drive.

Upon initially entering the 5* resort, we were welcomed by a staff member at the door to recieve our luggage and bags. Checking in was very quick with no issues.

Room is brilliant with a huge comfortable bed, with huge bathroom and plenty of toiletries.

Only issues with room was, large tea/coffee stain on carpet on left side of bed which just ruined the look of the fancy carpet.

Fridge in the room didn't work, however we didn't make this aware to staff and again the remote control only worked about a metre away from the tv any further and it just wouldn't work.

Dinner in the restaurant was bliss (first time for fine dining) food tasted awesome, very flavorsome and warm. Only issue was the time delay between each course at times. However complimentary snacks and drinks were offered once we raised this issue.

Only other thin was that there was a confusion with he bill with a voucher we had and it was messed up. The staff tried to fix the this but again managed to mess it up a second time. We only paid what we were supposed to at the end with apologies accepted.

Breakfast time in the morning had perhaps 5-10 minute wait for a table, however again the food and service was brilliant with a large selection of choice on the menu. Would consider definitely visiting again.

After another day of sightseeing (and lots of driving!) we were tired and hungry once we arrived! We dropped off our luggage and grabbed a bite in the bar - the burger was delicious! The quality and value was much more than I expected for "bar food". There were also delicious cocktail nuts that we nibbled while we waited for our meal. Our server noticed that we were enjoying them and brought out more - great service!

We booked a Courtyard Guestroom with two twin beds. Out of the entire two week trip, this was one of the most comfortable beds I slept on! The room had plush bathrobes and nice toiletries. I did have some trouble managing not to flood the entire bathroom after taking a shower - I just don't get the European shower set-up - how do you NOT flood the bathroom? Anyway, be forewarned and lay down a towel!

We had breakfast at the hotel the next morning - we went with the hot breakfast and ordered Eggs Benedict. They were so delicious! One of the best I've had. I would highly recommend the hot breakfast over the continental option (they are priced about the same) - who doesn't love an omelette bar? After breakfast, we walked around the grounds - beautiful!

Room Tip: I had some issues with the shower - leave a towel out to soak up the waterfall that may come!

Hotel General

· Drive up was great and amazing first view of the castle
· Loved relaxing in the reading/drawing rooms with the large open fire blazing.
· Lovely gardens

Dinner:

· Biggest disappointment
· Blackened Chicken not blackened – felt like it came out of one of the cooked chicken packets you’d find in Tesco or Lidl.
· Donegal Fish Chowder was lovely
· Lamb Shank had good flavour, but the accompanying sauce which I believe to be based on Jerusalem Artichoke was very bland.
· Ordered French Fries with Parmesan as an extra side, but neither the waiter nor myself could locate much Parmesan. Thankfully he took it back to the kitchen and returned with a top layer added.
· Waitress serving was very friendly and professional, but unfortunately I can’t recall her name.

Breakfast:

· Definitely one of the highlights of our stay
· Great selection of pastries, fruit, nuts, juices, cereals, homemade cookies and breads
· The omelette cooked by the chef at the egg station was really tasty and filling;
· The poached eggs in the eggs benedict were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise sauce was perfection.

Room:

· Beautiful large room
· Massive bed
· Television channels had a scrambled picture often

Bar:

· Around a dozen of us down in the Oak bar watching the football and rugby, but no staff ever came to check if anyone wanted a drink. Each time someone wanted a drink they had to go up the stairs, across the foyer and down into the Gallery bar.
· As soon as the sporting action had finished a bar man finally appeared behind the counter at the Oak bar, but by then everyone was leaving.

Staff:

· Each member of staff we encountered were all very friendly and professional.

Spa:

· Lovely swimming pool and pretty much had it to ourselves
· Water for showers was cold
· You have to go outside in order to access the spa.

Unfortunately I only got to experience the hospitality at Lough Eske for one night while on business but one night was enough to determine that I will return!
Every staff member we encountered was exceptionally welcoming and professional.
My room was enormous and extremely well appointed - gorgeous toiletries in the large bathroom (double sinks, bath, large shower with double shower heads); a tray with real coffee and a cafetiere (french press) as well as a selection of teas; large bottles of still and sparkling water and to cap it off a lovely plate of cheese, grapes and crackers awaiting me in the room after dinner.
Breakfast was excellent - the usual buffet but top class ingredients and some nice extras (e.g. fresh scones with cream and jam). The chef on omelette and pancake duty was as welcoming and professional as everyone else, as was the lovely waitress who saw we were under a bit of time pressure so organised some great coffee to take away with us without having to be asked.
Lough Eske shows the very best of Irish hospitality in a truly wonderful setting.
