This was such a lovely treat after many days on the road. The castle and the grounds are beautiful. The spa is a treat and don't miss the thermal pool open to all guests. Good was very good and the service top. Three lovely seating areas to read and relax, but a bit loud. And the library lacks the charm of the rest of the place which is too bad. But definitely worth the trip. The walk along the lake is exceptional with built in rainbows. Highly recommend. Could use a tad more warming up with fires in the fireplaces and a few more nooks. Definitely needs seats out in the garden, but service was fantastic! Great waiter there, Nigel, who had wine waiting in the lounge for us post massages in the afternoon. REally nice touch!

Hotel castle is set in stunning area near the lake and is surrounded by woods. It is a really magical setting for a hotel.
Food was beautiful and so fresh, both in the bar and in the restaurant. Staff are very friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.
We stayed in a courtyard room as we had our 3 month old dog with us.The hotel really made us feel welcome with our puppy and we didn't feel awkward at any stage with her there. It was a very spacious, clean and comfortable room-serviced very well each day.
The spa was a little disappointing. Relaxation area was chilly and used towels were left about the pool area.Atmosphere really not what I would expect at a 5 star rated spa hotel.
However it could just have been the time of day (7pm) and this did not over shadow the rest of our stay.
I would recommend this hotel to everyone and would we go back? Absolutely.

Just returned back after a great one night stay at Lough Eske, it was our 30th wedding anniversary.
We checked in at 11am as we had a spa day booked for my wife and myself for 11.30am. It was our anniversary so I emailed ahead making sure our bookings were all confirmed. The reservations emailed straight back to confirm all was confirmed.
From the minute you walk in and throughout your stay they make you feel really special.
Examples: Our bags taken to our room and the guy explained in detail all important features of the room, small points but again important.
We had room 205 a large suite with 2.plasma TV's and large living room area.
The reservations team had left a slab of chocolate cake with "Happy Anniversary" in chocolate. How nice is that. Many thanks
The spa, you check in fill in a few questions and depending on what you are doing everything is explained. My masseuse was a girl called Hayley. I must admit full body massages are not really my thing but this young lady was excellent, I think she put me to sleep at one stage she was so good, so thank you Hayley.
The bar, we went for lunch and later pre dinner drinks. The barman I think it was Gary (apologies if that's wrong) came up and asked my name he then came back with a comp drink from the hotel, again lovely touch.
The dinner. Everyone knew it was a special occasion as anyone that came near our table to serve us kept on congratulating us, my wife loved all that.
We have stayed in loads of hotels all over the world and two weeks ago just returned from a 5 star hotel in Turkey (which I never reviewed). This hotel is great, it's relaxing and be honest not at all snobby even though you may think it could be.
I do not write many reviews but feel its so important if you do have a nice experience it's worth giving feedback to all concerned.
So well done to the team at Lough Eske please keep up the good work.

On the advice of a relative of mine from Donegal town, we decided to treat ourselves to dinner in the bar. Two families, each made up of two parents and a teenage daughter. With a stunning lack of imagination I opted for fish and chips but the fish was really top notch - lovely and fresh with light, crispy batter. Others around the table had a duck breast salad, a mixed salad, grilled salmon, a beefburger (can't remember the last dish). Everyone was happy with the quality of the nosebag. One negative: the mark-ups on the wine are just silly. Pity, as the main dishes are good value. The day before, 'er indoors had a massage and spa business and was very complimentary about the whole thing. Be nice to say here some time, when we hit the jackpot. Looks like a beautiful place and the service is ultra-professional.

My sister and I stayed here for one night in July 2014. I wish we could have extended our stay. This hotel is beautiful and the staff goes out of their way to treat you like royalty. The property is secluded and out of the way, the grounds peaceful and beautifully manicured and adorned with statues and plants at every turn. We stayed in a courtyard room and it was lovely - spacious, comfortable and the modernly appointed bathroom was almost the size of my living room. Because we arrived late, we had dinner in the restaurant (rather than head into town) and it was delectable. Breakfast was large and with the ability to have your omelettes made to your liking, perfect for picky eaters. We didn't get a chance to use the pool or the spa but so wished we had. Definitely a highlight of our trip and I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend!!
