Our expectations were high. Unfortunately we were placed in a room 'looking on to the courtyard'. In fact this translated into a tiny room with views of belowstairs from every window. The venetian blinds had been removed, so that privacy was only afforded by drawing the half falling curtains, which made the room extremely dark and even more depressing. I refer to room 136 so potential clients beware! There was nowhere to place our suitcases except the floor, which meant that floor space was so compromised that we nearly tripped up when moving around the room. I would best describe the experience as a return to the days of a student squat living - horrendous.
We were moved to a more spacious, bright room which DID overlook the courtyard, but the whole experience coloured the rest of our stay. Why, if there were rooms available were we put there in the first place? We felt cheated, neglected and stressed.More
