If your stay is short and you want to make the best of your time, go on the Mary Gibbons tour to Hill of Tara and Newgrange. This tour is the best value for your money. Mary gives your an overview of Irish history during the drive to Hill of Tara. She is very accommodating and is the most knowledgeable person I know on Irish history. We were in Ireland only for a week. My husband and I are so thankful we heard about her tour. She picked us up at our hotel and returned us to the hotel at the end of the day. The price was very reasonable.

My mother and I went on a bus tour through Mary Gibbons to Newgrange and surrounds (Tara...). The tour runs 8am to 330pm. Mary 'lectured' almost nonstop. Her knowledge of history, dates, culture and archeology is awe-inspiring. Highly recommended.

If you love history & archaeology, this is fantastic as Mary Gibbons begins the bus trip to Newgrange with a complete overview of Irish history from its stone age beginnings - I especially loved how she tied it in with the European context, eg she was talking about how Ireland's Golden Age coincided with the European Dark Ages (which Ireland avoided due to never being Roman), and how that lead to the spread of Irish monasteries across Europe - things like that. Very cheap at only 30 euro for a coach & day-trip, which can't be much more than if you organised the trip to Newgrange indepdently.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our tour to Newgrange and the hill at Tara.
It was the highlight of our journey to Ireland.
Mary is so knowledgeable and we learned many historical facts. We highly recommend your valuable tour to others. Who knew we would see areas that were built even before the pyramids.

We took this tour to Newgrange. They picked us up at our hotel. They were ontime and the bus was roomy and comfortable. The trip includes a stop at the Hill of Tara. Lunch is not included. You have to pay cash on the bus.

She gave commentary and answered questions throughou the trip in an entertaining and informative manner which was enjoyed by everyone. We learned a lot.

One of the best things was you were guaranteed admission to the tomb if you book this tour. There is a limited number of people allowed in the tomb per day and this tour gets you in.

The Hill of Tara and the Newgrange site were interesting and most of the people didn't know that Newgrange is an archeological site that predates Stonehenge by 500 years and the Pyramids by 1000.

A great tour to an interesting site. I recommend it strongly.
