“Great experience in Dublin”
Reviewed 3 November 2013

When we arrived we found out that the manager had made an upgrade in our reservation, for free, what was so nice of him.The beds are reeeeally comfortable and the room and bathroom are clean. Some staff members are more friendly than others, but we didn't have any problems.

This is a nice little hostel with a great atmosphere and friendly staff! When I arrived they couldn't find my booking (this was no fault of the hostel, my booking never came through from another booking site). They were really helpful and quickly found another nice hostel for me to stay during my first night since the hostel was fully booked. For the rest of my stay in slept in a 6 bed room while they gave me an upgrade to a private room for my last night.
The breakfast was nice, and I also liked the theme evenings (free wine, free dinner, ...).
I would really recommend this hostel!

This was our first hostel stay of our big Europe trip so we were nervous and didn't know what to expect; and were pleasantly surprised. The helpfulness of staff were great, it had a cosy atmosphere, great breakfast each morning, a large kitchen area and laundry facilities. We stayed in a dorm, quite small but was fine. Cleanliness wasn't great, but luckily this sort of thing doesn't bother me, and considering the amazing cheap price it was a great place.

First of all, if you're comparing a hostel experience with staying at the Sheraton, you're doing it wrong. So this review presumes you know what you're getting when you stay at a hostel: a shared place to sleep, shower, eat, and (if you want) meet people. That's it -- at hostel prices, everything beyond that is extra. If you're a bit fussy, or a light sleeper, or a very private person, a hostel is not for you.
So within that context, the Times was great. Friendly, flexible staff, nice common area, reliable wi-fi, convenient location, clean room/bathroom, decent bed.
The convenient location (and the age of typical hostel guests) means:
a) the street outside may be noisy til late at night.
b) people will be coming in/out of your room at all hours, and might be up talking past your bedtime :-)

Staff was very friendly, some were multi-lingual; they were helpful with bus directions, etc. Shower was high up (I notice this because I'm tall) and tons of water pressure, big mirrors in the bath, bed was clean and comfortable (for a bunk bed).
One of the best hostels I've stayed in.

Room Tip: I had a room in the back, through the kitchen and up a narrow stairs -- very satisfactory room.

It was just te best hostel I've stayed so far, it was clean, it was just a 10 min walk from temple bar, the common room was great, nice to meet other people, and breakfast was really nice. also the staff was very helpful in providing hints and iformation. I recomend it.

We were absolutely delighted with the hostel and on arrival received a very warm and friendly welcome from a member of staff on the reception desk. Our rooms were private and spotlessly clean with spacious bathrooms and comfy beds. We only stayed for a few nights and so unfortunately we did not have much time to interact with members of staff and participate in organised activities, however, I do think it's great that there are so many things to do whilst staying at the hostel and it was evident that the staff worked hard to ensure this. Camden Place offers excellent value for money and I would definitely recommend it to anyone thinking of a trip to Dublin.

Room Tip: Our room was near the back of the hotel and there was no noise from the clubs on nearby streets.

Clean, aazingly well run, organised hostel - but the rooms differ in quality a great deal. Room 7 we stayed in has just enough room for 4 bunk beds, and a little floor space as wide as the doors to the room and bathroom. Also in the bathroom you can just turn around, water pressures not great, but that is often the case.
So effectively 8 people in 12 m2 - it get's very hot and very smelly - the windows don't open properly though cose the bunks block them in. So without the benefit of fresh air you get all the traffic noise off the main road round the corner. To be fair it's not that busy after 11pm but the heat was just unbearable. Beds were average, not god not bad. We saw other rooms they were sooo much better.
