“Best of the Best”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

When you travel and are looking for a small establishment to have a good meal in do not go here. If you are looking for an exceptional dinner with great service this is the best of the best that I have been to in Dublin. The menu changes regularily so your experience will be based on what the Chef has aquired on that day but you will not be disappointed. The web site says that "The Pig’s Ear is an Irish Restaurant serving good, honest, Irish fare with a modern touch. You can eat in style surrounded by bright, airy and classical design with a casual, yet contemporary feel."
It is all true ! Make sure you try the Duck Fat Roast Potatoes.
If I could I would eat here every night.

“Excellent”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 June 2014

The chef won an award this year, and deserves it. Interesting herb and seasoning combinations make the food here different. In addition, their roof top garden has herbs and vegetables growing to up the freshness of the dishes. We ate salmon and shepherd's pie after starters of carpaccio and spelt "risotto". All very tasty with a nice Irish beer - being able to order a Galway Hooker was a lot of fun. The portions were perfect and the bread was excellent. The atmosphere was very casual, but nice. I would definitely go back to and recommend this restaurant.

“Amazing food - great room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 June 2014

This s a fabulous place for a meal - a very good menu with nicley judged portions - not too over-facing but full of flavour. We had a lamb and a chicken dish both of which were great and some simple, but again lovely, deserts. The service was attentive and friendly, and the room itself (a converted apartment) was excllent and comfortable. This is apparently a very well regarded local restaurant but there was no pretention or off-handed-ness. A great place for a charming taste of modern Irish cooking.

“In a Pig's Ear- Indeed!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 June 2014

Spent less then 24 hours in Dublin and chose this restaurant on the basis of good reviews. It's a short walk from the city center area of St. Stephan's Green where we were staying, located on Nassau Street. We chose the app-main-dessert prix fixe menu at about 29 EU, and were happy with our choices. The food was creatively prepared and plated, and spiced with herbs and micro greens grown on their roof-top garden we were told. We had two charming servers, both from France, who were very responsive to our questions and requests. The restaurant is small, I doubt more than 45 seats, and located up a flight of stairs. They try for locally sourced food, and do a nice job of it-- our cod was perfectly seared on the outside, yet tender and flaky inside. This was served with young roasted carrots over a smoked fish puree and simply delicious. They have a nice wine list with some reasonably- priced whites and reds from Italy, France and South Africa. I think our Italian white was 28 euros. The space is lovely, with tall ceilings, and a lot of light entering through windows that overlook Trinity College Gardens. Would definitely go back.
