This evening took us back in time to a period when storytelling and music were a couple of the only sources of entertainment. It was so much fun to hear about the beginnings of the legends of fairies and leprechauns. The meal was very good - Irish Stew at it's best. The music was traditional, familiar and comforting. If this is on your must do list for Dublin, make sure you book ahead, its easy to do online. Johnny provided us with a sense of the story of storytelling in Ireland. Thank you for an enjoyable evening!
We had a wonderful evening celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary at The Brazen Head. Ollie Grace is a gifted artist, spinning animated tales of the culture, history, people and fairies who inhabited this beautiful island. The food was very good and the singing, with help from an enthusiastic audience, lifted our spirits even more. The entertainment could not have been better! And yes, we bought CDs.
Myself and my fiance attending the Food, Folklore and Fairies evening on our first night in Dublin as part of our anniversary celebrations and it was the best! Truly this was the my favourite part of the whole trip. Our story teller, Helena, really made the night. The way she told the stories made it feel like you were there in the tale, and her singing voice is something else! We had to buy both CDs as I wanted a copy of the stories and my fiance wanted a copy of the songs. As a note on that, we're not usually the kinds of people to buy souvenirs unless it's something we really want!
The food was also great. It's nothing fancy, but it's real heartwarming food. I highly recommend the Irish Stew and the homemade apple pie.
The only thing that was a bit of a letdown, and is in no way any fault of the staff, was we were sat next to two girls who sat looking at their phones all night. The rest of the room were all socialising amongst them selves and it felt a bit like we missed out on that, but never mind. Seems like a bit of a waste to come to such a fun evening and just be sat on your phone.
Everyone shares large tables here, so you will be sat with people who you don't know if you are on your own or in a small group, but have a chat and get to know them. You'll have a fun night, I can guarantee!
Helene is a great storyteller and brings all the stories of the fairies and leprechauns to life. Good food and lots of fun. Also Irish music was entertaining. I had the Guinness beef stew which was delicious. Others in our group enjoyed the cabbage and bacon. Just be aware that it is a 2-story climb to the dining room.
A fun-filled evening for our family of seven adults. Ollie was highly entertaining, and the food was great. This evening was at the beginning of a two week family holiday and was the perfect start to it. Would highly recommend to anyone.
My wife and I attended this event about two weeks ago. It was great, the food (as you would expect) was not the top of the line, but the stories were well worth the cost. Johnny is a great story teller with a marvelous voice and presentation style. We bought the CD when the night was over and listened to it as we continued our exploration of Ireland. Such a good experience.
