“Perfect- Leaves nothing to desire”
Reviewed 22 October 2013

I am so impressed by this B&B. Moira and Keith have made it incredibly homey, with warm and tasteful decorations, and yet very professional. It's impeccably clean, perfectly comfortable and lacking in nothing! They've even provided a laptop and printer for their guests.
As promised, the cooked Irish breakfast delivers what they say and more.

The location is excellent too as it's about 15 minutes to the heart of Dublin (south of the B&B) and about 15 mins to the airport (north of the B&B). Easy to do sightseeing but then have this lovely place to retreat and rest in when you're done your day.

The hosts are incredibly warm and hospitable but also giving you your own space. They are very much about how to make your experience a good one, rather than getting stuck on what would probably be easier for them.

If I were to go back to Dublin, this would be where I go, no question! Much nicer than a hotel.

Room Tip: All the rooms are equally comfortable! I was in double en-suite, but my friends were in the twin and...

We chose this B&B because it was close to the airport but we found that it was also close to our hearts. Our host Moira was very welcoming and provided us with lovely tea and scones on our arrival. All the food she provided was either cooked by herself or provided by local butchers and bakers and it was delicious. We loved hearing about her children and we felt as though we were part of her family.

We highly recommend this B&B for your stay in Dublin.

This is my second time staying at Shantalla Lodge and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. Moira has thought of everything that speaks to her guest's comfort. The rooms are bright, fresh, modern, and immaculately clean. It's the kind of place you want to come home to at the end of a day of sightseeing. The beds are comfy and the breakfasts couldn't be better. Even the coffee is excellent. Add to all that Moira's willingness to help with travel arrangements, local information, and whatever you might need, and Shantalla Lodge is simply a winner!

Room Tip: Both rooms have been lovely

We chose Shantalla Lodge because after 800 miles of driving the four corners of Ireland, we wanted to be close to the airport, drop off the rental car and have easy access to Dublin. This property is well situated for this purpose.

Moira was a welcoming host, offering us great advice for day in Dublin. The rooms were spotless and the baths upgraded with wonderful amenities, including luxurious towels.

Breakfast was to-order and wonderful.

A couple of nits: parking was tight (although not a problem for us as we turned in the car immediately after checking in) and the bedroom was "cozy". Not too small for a night or two, but the smallest of the 5 B&Bs we visited. Also, it's not in the most attractive business area ... graffiti on the buildings across the street. But these are nits.

That being said, I would recommend this property without reservation and enjoyed our brief stay. The hosts' hospitality made all the difference.

Although this bed and breakfast is outside of Dublin, it's worth the stay. It's a bit small, but very quaint and the host and hostess are great. The breakfast is wonderful. We were able to get a 3 days pass at the airport that allowed us to take buses in and out of the city and the Green Hop-on and Hop-off bus for free. I felt very safe there - Dublin can be loud and filled with people who approached us for money.

Unfortunately we only stayed overnight here for an early flight the next morning but would certainly stay here for longer next time. We had a lovely warm welcome, with a cup of coffee and fabulous carrot cake! The room was immaculate and breakfast the next morning was great - a full Irish! If you are going to Dublin for a few days or just overnight I would definitely recommend here. The bus stops are practically on the doorstep and it is 10 mins into Dublin City Centre and 10 mins the other way to the airport - perfect.

We spent 5 very enjoyable nights with Moira and Keith at Shantalla Lodge. They are a lovely couple and will go out of their way to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The house is right on the 16 bus route which runs between the airport and the city. (about 15mins and 2.15 Euro to get to the city). Breakfast each day was delicious and the rooms were very clean and nicely set. Would book there again without hesitation if I get to Dublin again one day. Thanks Guys!!
