Description: La Maison is the latest venture of Breton chef Olivier Quenet. In April 2009 he transformed his French cafe and boulangerie, La Maison des Gourmets, into a simple yet chic restaurant where he aims to continue his dedication to Irish people eating affordable freshly prepared produce. The menu is a well thought out selection of French dishes; huitre (fresh oysters), plateau de pates du jour, poele de la mer, tarte provencal and cote de boeuf to name but a few of the wonderful choices on offer. Upon arrival diners will be welcomed by the Maitre d'hotel,His high expectations ensure that the service is impeccable with sparkling glassware, starched linen napkins yet all the while remaining relaxed and friendly. The authenticity of La Maison begins with the artwork, works by Leonetto Cappiello, L'oir Dor, and Diable Vent, all sourced from the Paris at Puces market.

Most of the food in La Maison is tasty...but it's because everything is laced with butter, cream etc. It was hard to taste the actual food for the amount of fat that's on it.
They had also ran out of a few things on the menu which was disappointing.
Dessert was beautiful though.
Overall, average.

We ate here recently. Some ate off the earlier bird menu and others ate off the al le carte menu. I order the salmon balotine with a poached egg for starter. What arrived was not what was described on the menu. It was extremely cold dish to start with, so cold it was hard to eat. The salmon was actually smoked. The portion size was very very big, so much so it was off putting. Main courses were ok , we ordered roast potatoes and green veg sides. Everything just seems overly oily or over buttered and a bit sickly too eat. We were also asked four times, once making the reservation, once confirming the reservation and twice when we took our seats if we had a voucher for the restaurant. We did not and i dont undersand why they needed to ask us 4 times.
Service was ok..........i dont think i'll go back.

This is Michelin level, albeit without the actual star.

Chef Olivier Quenet oversees a superb French restaurant in the centre of Dublin, within walking distance of most city centre hotels. See their website for references.

We dined there tonight. The entree of Terrine/Pate was varied, home made and generous. It was indeed sufficient for a sharing starter if you wanted to leave room for the main course. Other starters were the house salad with bacon and poached egg -delicious and very light and green risotto served with a rocket salad, tasty!

Note - portions here for all courses were generous - not typical French Nouvelle Cuisine type sizes. So you will be well fed!

For mains we had Duck Breast - cooked to perfection as. Only the French can, beautifully garnished.

The Lamb was served "en croute" pink in the middle, beautifully presented with garnish and accompanying Jus.

Finally my mixed fish dish featured pan fried salmon, cod served with mussels in a white wine sauce accompanied by potatoes/tomatoes.

We enjoyed the house (carafe) wine followed by a glass of Port, none of us had room for dessert.

There is an early bird menu up to 19.00 and a special brunch menu on Sunday.

The location is in a very lively central area of Dublin ( very safe)! There is a great buzz about the area and it's just adjacent to Grafton Street - one of the best shopping areas. try it you won't be disappointed.

One final comment - service is attentive but not rushed, the French never hurry good food. Let them know in advance if you are in a hurry.

Enjoy

So glad to review la maison.we had a voucher which cost 26 euro and was valued at 60 euro.that was a good starting point.we were seated outside but covered which created a nice atmosphere. We were under a heated light(husband says they are pig lights)which made us very cosy . The food was amazing . I have never tasted duck so mouth meeting . The colour was an amazing pink. My husband had steak which he equally loved. Will definitely be back.
