“Noise.”
Reviewed 22 May 2014 via mobile

I'm writing this review at 0000 on the last night of our Tuesday-Friday stay. The noise from the bar below is far too loud, I'm wearing ear plugs with little effect. It's a nice hotel, large comfortable bed and the continental breakfast is adequate. I'm just glad we're not here all weekend, my fillings couldn't take the vibration from the bass below, no joke. The staff didn't warn us about the noise. Don't come if you want to sleep before 0200.

We stayed for 3 nights and found this to be a great location to see the sights of Dublin from. The bed was large and comfortable though the bathroom was a bit small and the shower could use some updating. We didn't find the noise from the bar too bad, which was surprising since they did warn us about it. The only time we were really bothered by noise was the 630am Thursday morning restocking of kegs.

We tried both the resident only bar and the "Secret" bar and enjoyed both. I would certainly recommend this hotel to others.

Firstly, we rang the hotel and asked about parking and we were told the hotel has an agreement with drury street car park and it would cost €6 from 6pm to 12pm the following day - however, this was not the case, the agreement is with park rite which is another car park on drury street not called drury street car park we ended up paying €23(the guy in the car park said it happens all the time). When we asked at reception to get the car park ticket stamped we were met with a lazy reply saying "thats not the right car park but ill stamp it anyway and it might work" and she was very un helpful. The room was simple but clean and the bed was very comfortable, BUT we were then awoken by men using power tools right beneath our room window at 8:00am. Initially i thought it was the council but in fact it was workers working on behalf of the hotel - what a silly thing to do, waking up your customers that early - why not carry the work out later in the day. There are earplugs provided in the hotel, that just says it all i wont be staying again.

I am so sorry you experienced such a disturbance, we were carrying out essential renovations in l'Gueuleton . This is now completed, perhaps if you are in Dublin again you will return to enjoy our famous "comfy" beds for a longer sleep! Karin

I cannot say enough good things about Kelly's! Love the staff and it's the perfect location. Rooms are on the small side, but the high end bathroom made up for it. I recommend purchasing breakfast through the hotel. It's at an adjacent bar and is delicious! The hotel can be hard to find the first time and the stairs are a bit of an inconvenience but it's worth it. Quick walk to Trinity & great shopping.

This is such a cool hotel. The rooms are simple but very nice. The location couldn't be better. I've stayed here a few times and always wanted to love the hotel but I won't be staying again.

Almost every room has a noise problem. The back of the hotel backs on to the smoking area of a noisy bar and the front of the hotel onto a very busy street. Another key problem is none of the rooms have black out blinds, just simple shades. So it can be hard to get to sleep before midnight and difficult if you want to sleep till 7.30 / 8am.

It's a pity, because everything else is pretty good - especially the breakfast!

Hi , Thanks for your feedback & sorry for the noise. We are located in the Creative Quarter of Dublin in the heart of the Entertainment & Food district. We are always upgrading a maintenance programme & have installed sound proofing in a few areas . Glad you liked the breakfast in l'Gueuleton its a great spot to both start & complete the day ......Karin

What a lovely hotel. Stayed for 3 nights and could not fault it anywhere. We knew the breakfast offered was continental style and were perfectly happy with it. In fact the brown bread was some of the nicest I've tasted. The room was small, but again we knew it would be and weren't bothered by it. Though small it was beautifully decorated and the bed was super comfortable. Another little thing that impressed me was the fact that they offered a conditioner with a shampoo and shower gel in the bathroom. A small detail I know but greatly appreciated by a female traveler. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the whole quirky set up of the hotel was refreshingly different.
Only a 3 star hotel but in my opinion far nicer than most 4 star hotels I've stayed in, in Ireland.

Very central, helpful staff, nice room. The only rhing is while breakfast is included it is continental style, cooked breakfast is more, don't mind this but it could have been clearer at time of booking
