Myself and 3 other flight attendants were on a bus tour of Northern ireland and our EXCELLENT tour gude, Robbie, recommended a pub crawl for us to do later that eve in Dublin. We were excited to join the crawl cause we wanted to get out and enjoy the nightlife - without having to wonder which pubs to go to. (We had already been in town for a week and it was nice to have someone else direct us for once... lol)
Honestly, we all know pub crawls are a pretty standard bunch, so those that complain about the crowds, or food, or drinks need to relax a bit and recognize it's a PUB crawl. Lol, I did plenty of crawls in University and always had a blast simply because they are what you make of it.
My gf's and I are all pretty talkative anyway (shocker with our jobs ;) and met lots of other tourists and fellow travelers on the crawl. And everyone was friendly and happy to meet other ppl. (My one gf and I actually did the crawl twice... what the heck eh? And yes, we went to different bars for each crawl (same company), so that goes to show you there's variety... which is always a good thing in the pub world.)
Our pub crawl guide was Sean (half Irish, half Italian), and was funny, entertaining, knowledable about Ireland when asked, and got the crowds to the dance floor to sing and clap along with the live Irish music playing in some of the pubs. I thought the whole thing was awesome and we walked away both times thinking, "wow, that was fun!".
So bottom line, I'd def recommend this crawl to tourists trying to figure out the nightlife of Temple Bar in Dublin... and if you don't like some of the places... trust me, Temple Bar is full of others you can try out. Bare minimum you'll remember the tour and be able to guide yourself around the next night easier! :)
