“Lovely hotel, but smelly”
Reviewed 9 October 2013

We were in a non-smoking room, which absolutely REEKED of cigarettes. Even after leaving the window open for hours, it never went away and made our clothes smell as well.
Apart from that, the hotel is gorgeously decorated, and in the perfect spot - within walking distance of everything, but far enough away from Temple Bar to not be too noisy (even with a street-facing room).

What a great hotel, so close to everything, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We did have a room facing the street, but it wasn't too noisy; especially compared to our stay in Edinburgh at festival time. I find it quite amusing to watch the antics of people who have had a few too many drinks.
We didn't have breakfast there so can't comment on the food; I must say the people of Dublin must be the most friendly, helpful people in the world, even if we did have a little trouble understanding each other's accents.

Room Tip: If you want to be near the action you have to expect some noise.

I had the pleasure to stay in the Paramount Hotel in early September 2013 for a one night visit. The room was spacious and clean in which we were very comfortable. I thought the value we got was outstanding having paid only about 70 USD for the room (booked on a third party site). The staff was absolutely fabulous and very accommodating throughout our stay; the kindliness and hospitality of the Irish people never ceases to amaze me. Many comments have voiced concern with the noise, and while I can see how this may be problematic, was not observed by us; perhaps we got lucky with the room or maybe Temple Bar had a quiet night (we stayed on a Thursday). Overall I cannot recommend the Paramount Hotel any more highly and look forward to another stay on my next trip to Dublin.

Stayed at the Paramount our first night in Dublin after reading trip advisor reviews and finding a good rate online. As suggested, I requested a room in the back of the hotel on a high floor. Instead, I was given a room on the 1 st floor facing the street, either because they were booked out, or more likely that I had a low room rate. Nevertheless, the noise factor was unbearable. All night long drunks were shouting outside my window, which was closed, making the room very stuffy. At about 4am some drunk girl even started shouting through a megaphone!
Although the rooms are pleasant, the beds are hard and uncomfortable so sleep was an impossibility. We left after one night. If these noisy hotels would just put a fan in their guest room it would help drown out the noise and circulate the air. Location was excellent. Too bad the stay was so unpleasant.

Room Tip: Insist on a high floor on the back of the hotel or don't stay there if you value your sleep

In general, this hotel is very nice, the employees are very polite, rooms are clean and well furnished. Also the location is great for sightseeing, everything can be reached by foot. BUT the problem of this hotel is the included nightclub. The also included pub is also loud, but not very disturbing. We stayed from Thursday to Monday. On three of the four nights it was nearly impossible to find some sleep until 3 a.m., because the electronic music is really loud, especially on Saturday night. I am really not very sensitive, but this was totally not acceptable. We did not talk to the staff, becaues we already knew that they we're fully booked and a room change would'nt have been possible anyway. Without the music problem the hotel would deserve 5 points concerning price, room and service, but sleeping was not possible during certain times (and that is why I book a hotel room). Therefore in total only 3 points.

Room Tip: definately a room on the fourth floor with windows to the backyard

Was pleasantly surprised by this hotel - the room was nice and the location is excellent - it was very good value for money. On the downside, my room was very suitable for just me, but it would be cramped for two people. However my main problem was that the room was extremely warm and there was no a/c - so I can only imagine how hot it would be in summer!
