“Perfect!”
Reviewed 30 January 2014 via mobile

This was our first visit to Dublin and we were worried when reading the reviews. God knows what some of these people are talking about, the rooms were contemporary and modern(they haven't been refurbed recently), the bar area was comfortable and a gorgeous lounge with roaring open fire. Breakfast was lovely as was the dining room. Staff amazing couldn't do enough! The noise, well if you staff in the temple bar area what do you expect but nothing to disturb our last night which we went early to bed. I recommend this hotel and to those nuggets who said about the noise don't stay in the busiest area in Dublin, pitch a tent and stay in a field! We will definitely be staying again :-)

Stayed here at the CLARENCE for one night on a Sunday! The porter brought us to our room and showed us everything and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are amazing. They are huge and very classy!! The octagon bar is very nice to have a drink in. When we got back from a night out on the town we were let in by a porter. He was so kind he lit the fire for us in the beautiful lobby and got our drinks. He really made our stay as it was freezing outside, He was a colored man so fair play to him. Well done :)

I was completely underwhelmed by this hotel.
Design-wise it reminded me of a municipal crematorium.
The room was small with a crappy TV that had no satellite channels, the toiletries were
cheap and the only way to gain privacy from the buildings opposite was to close the curtains. In the middle of the day,
If this place is meant to be cool then I'm Ndabanigi Sithole.

A definite must stay when visiting Dublin. Top class hotel, fantastic bedrooms, lovely friendly personable staff and set to be my regular hotel of choice when staying in Dublin. Can't find fault with it al all, although a few more teas and coffees in room wouldn't go a miss and although we asked for them (several times) they never materialised. Also, sink in en suite was blocked, but it wouldn't put us off returning.

Well what can I say, what a weekend we had at this hotel. From the moment we got there the staff couldn't do enough for us and this continued throughout the stay. The rooms are very nice and clean with a real cosy feel to them. I had seen some very bad comments about this hotel with noise being the main issue, well you are right in the temple bar area so you get some noise but nothing I would call a put off..

This hotel is a must if you want a good stay in dublin, good in the restaurant is excellent, bar staff are brill, and the night guy Jacob is prob one of the most helpful people you will ever meet. I can't wait to go there again with my missis.

10 out of 10 well done to all the staff there.

I should have taken more seriously the negative reviews when researching Dublin hotels. They were right on the money. The location was the only aspect of the Clarence that we enjoyed; other than that we couldn't wait to get out of there. The furnishings were minimal and worn, the bathroom dirty and sadly outdated. The carpet in the hallways was stained. In general, it felt like a place poorly assembled and long overdue for an overhaul.
