Just back from a four night stay at the Clarence over the U2 Concert weekend. We had planned this trip back in March, and I booked a River Suite (the only room left on Hotels.com at the time) because we were going to attend two U2 concerts on Saturday 7/25 and Monday 7/27. I really wanted to stay in this hotel, and the location in Temple Bar was perfect! Although the room was expensive it was well worth it. Everytime we came back to the hotel, we were greeted like they really wanted to make sure we were having a good day - it was like coming back home - The hotel is small - only about 47 rooms I think - So it gives you that boutique feeling. There is a room called the Study off the Lobby where you can go and hang out anytime of the day and night and order drinks and food and hang out. It was great! The suite itself had a large living area and a large bedroom, an entryway with the bath off that. Large windows overlooking the River, air conditioning and wonderful turndown service and amenities. The staff were great - Very friendly, and informative in terms of where to go out to eat and what to do in the city. There was alot of activity Friday and Saturday as there were alot of onlookers hanging around the hotel because they thought bandmembers might show up Lots of security for the guests-- however they did not, so it died down a bit by Monday. The Octagon Bar was nice, however it was very crowded most of the time and getting a drink took a long time. I believe they were not used to the large crowds they encountered on this weekend. We had dinner at the Tea Room one night and it is a beautiful space - and the food was excellent - however there was trouble with getting drinks that night too, and the bill took forever to get because they were having problems with their computer. Upon checkout our bill was overcharged about e550 - all due to errors in the computer billing system. They kindly took care of it and corrected everything with no problem.
I have read when researching the hotel here alot of people complaining that it was noisy at night. I did not find this to be the case - Maybe because my room overlooked the entrance to the hotel and the river. The only noise really was traffic - (and the people crowding outside the front door until late waiting for band to appear - I actually thought this was wild!) Maybe if your room is on the Temple Bar street side, there is more noise -but with the windows closed and the air on I found no problem in this regard. Try staying in a hotel in Manhattan and see how much noise there is with traffic, sirens, etc. All in all we had a fantastic time - The room, the food, the service, the great location in Temple Bar - just walk outside your door and find cafes, pubs, Saturday food fair, entertainment, etc. I think it was all the better becuase there were so many tourists in town for the concerts so the entire district was hopping! We enjoyed the walk to Croke Park from the hotel and met alot of great people! The concerts were amazing. Would highly recommend this hotel to everyone! Thanks to all the staff we encountered during our stay!

- The Clarence boasts fifty bedrooms and suites, along with our world famous Penthouse Suite. Our rooms range from Classic through Deluxe and on to our River View and Garden Terrace Suites. Our furnishings are simple: classic Shaker oak, beds dressed in cool white linen, sitting elegantly in contrast to a palate of vibrant cardinal colours, rich drapes and luxe carpets. We aim to provide all the simple needs of our guests and we offer 'round the clock room service and all rooms have complimentary WiFi as standard. Our city centre location means car space is at a premium, but we do have a small underground car park that can be reserved for a small nightly supplement.
