I'd been in the mercantile before for gigs and a drink. This was the first time staying though in the hotel. Rooms were good from what I remember. There's a late bar and a venue for music also a good restaurant doing daily deals. We got steak and chips for a tenner each, which was great for the money. The Guinness was good as well. Can't complain at all. Stayed with my brother and mate for 1 night.

Stayed in a family room 106. It's right above the bar n faces out into the alley behind the hotel where the dame bar is right in front of you. Very loud noise all night frm music, shouting fighting n general drunken bums m this was a Wednesday night. Then 7am clean up starts outside, cleaning machines n beer kegs bein thrown. Why have a family room right above the bar when there'll b families trying to sleep?????. Avoid. Stair carpets minging. Bathroom a mess. Toothpaste n spot in the sink frm previous guests. Half eaten food in room. Cleaning rota in our room. The list goes on n on

Myself and my Mum stayed here for two nighhts in Frbruary. We had a twin room on floor 4 which was light and spacious. It wad clean and well made. The bathroom was a good size also. There is noise but you are staying in a hotel on a main street in dublin, what do people expect????
The location of this hotel is perfect with it being just across the road from temple bar and a short walk to bus stops and dart stations for getting around.
The staff are great, especially the two ladies who work on the reception they are kind and make you feel so welcome nothing was too much trouble :)
We ate breakfast one morning, superb!!! It was served in the bar which is absolutely stunning to look at.
We loved this hotel so much my Mum would like to return with other family members next year for her birthday, which we would never normally do :)

Carpets absolutely filthy on stairs, had to wait for really slow lift as my feet were sticking on carpet. tiles in bathroom broken and dirty.Toilets in pub disgusting afraid to eat in hotel. Noisy as had to leave window open for fresh air. Have stayed in hotels and hostels all over the world and never have I came across such uncleanliness, and in my own capital city.

Room Tip: Avoid at all costs

Must be the noisiest hotel in all Dublin. The party outside goes on all night. First thing in the morning the cleanup starts with the banging and scraping sounds of the beer kegs being changed. Our room looks out on the alley and the building next door, amplifying the sounds. This is not the hotel for rest in order to enjoy all that Dublin has to offer. While nicely located and charmingly appointed, it is best left for the young stumbling home from the pubs! Poor rating is due entirely to the noise.

Room Tip: Do not accept a room overlooking the alley. All outside noise is amplified!

This post is a little delayed. We stayed here back in June and although the Hotel was extremely central it was a bit steep in prices for the overall decor and extremely slow lift. We ate in the bar which was lovely during the day as it was nice and quiet but at night time I would imagine eating in there is a bit of a challenge. The food itself was lovely, I had the BLT and my husband had the stew, both were lovely. The bar staff were ok but the waiter was quite un attentive and he seemed uninterested.

The lady that checked us in 'Sam' was an absolute gem, she was so kind and helpful and so young!! Anything we needed in our room she got for us, even when we questioned the air con and found that there was none she went and got us two fans, a bucket of ice and glasses and opened our window without being asked!

Out of the whole journey and all the bars, restaurants etc. we visited she was by far the best and really made us feel welcome.

If I were you Mercantile I would hold onto that little stunner, she is going places and she's definitely winning over your guests even if the Hotel itself could be better!

The room we stayed in was HUGE, seriously you can't get much bigger even in the states for the price we paid. The staff was so sweet and always asking us how we were doing when we would walk by, we even met the owner of the hotel who was a pretty cool guy! The room didn't have AC but Ireland isn't exceptionally hot compared to say Rome at this time of year. There was Free wifi, and an elevator. It is walking distance from the Jameson Distillery, the Guiness factory, and temple bar is literally across the road. Temple bar is a fun touristy area with live irish music. Where the hotel is is also an extremely popular bar that is very loud at night. We didn't mind it since we were out most of the night as well, but because it is a popular area it is loud so keep that in mind in case you want to bring earplugs! I would definitely stay here again!
