“Drink with the Locals”

This pub opened in the 1100's. The history is rich, the locals friendly. If you are looking for good craic, this is a good choice. Typical old pub, great atmosphere, great food. The stew and roast were awesome.I recommend sitting in the pub room just to the right of the courtyard. A taxi is most likely needed as this pub is located a distance from city center one bock off the Liffey.

“Old can be good!”
Reviewed 31 August 2014

A very interesting tavern, good food and large portions. Service was very casual, nobody in much of a hurry and that can be good on vacation. Drinks were reasonably priced.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 28 August 2014 via mobile

Enjoyed some good food and beer at this famous pub. The place was packed when we arrived because of all the Penn State fans in town for the game. We found a seat and were waited on within a few minutes. The atmosphere is great and the service is fantastic.

“Good food - Can't Pre Book a Table”
Reviewed 26 August 2014

Touristy but still a good experience. The food was tasty and well presented on the 2 occasions we ate there.

Only grizzle is that you can't pre book a table if your group is less than 6 - seems to be a standard thing in Dublin and it is annoying when you make the effort to go and you can't get a seat.
