Possibly one of the best trips we have had. The gentleman who owned the lodge was fantastic. Local knowledge was great and nothing was too much trouble. We particularity enjoyed the breakfast as it looked like something out of a film. Also we enjoyed the company of paws the cat. Highly recommended place to stay if you are visiting Dublin.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Aberdeen Lodge. The owner and staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. The full Irish breakfast was great. It was in a quiet neighborhood, only a short drive from Dublin. The only minor issue we had was children stomping around in the room above ours fairly late one night.

I do not like to write negative reviews but as I rely on this site to research places I feel it necessary to point out that this hotel is not what it says on the tin!
I had read many positive reviews and also researched this 'hotel' on it's website and expected something entirely different to say the least. It really is more of a 3 star b&b rather than 4 star boutique hotel. The main reasons are that it does not have a restaurant or food service during the day or evening, no lifts in the building, no room service menu, no bar, no multi channel tv (or tv service at all while I stayed here), no 24 hr reception, no leisure facilities etc.
This is in fact an adequate bed and breakfast run by a very warm and welcoming family in a very nice, peaceful and central location in south Dublin.

We stayed at the Aberdeen lodge for 6 nights while on business at the RDS. It was located about 20 mins walk away from the RDS - Sandymount was a short walk away with lots of nice restaurants. The hotel itself was very clean, the staff were great, the beds were comfy and the breakfast was great. The full Irish was really nice. We have booked to stay again next year. Located on a quiet road but just by the dart to get you in to central Dublin in 5 mins.

A beautiful, well run hotel in a lovely area of Dublin. Our room was clean, comfortable and charming. No elevator but help was available to carry our luggage. Service was great...morning coffee was a phone call away, tea served either in the living room or outside on the terrace any time we returned from touring. Breakfast was delicious with freshly prepared eggs and/or a nice buffet of fruits, cereals, scones, yogurt. The small village of Sandymount was a 15-20 min. walk from the hotel and had several nice places for dinner. The Dart line was a 5-10 min walk and took you right into central Dublin. A great place to stay if you want to get out of the hustle-bustle of the city yet minutes away from everything!

I stayed at Aberdeen Lodge in March 2013, during the St. Patrick's festivities. To be honest it's a bit off the centre and Temple Street, but I think that's exactly what I was looking for. We took a bus from the airport, unfortunately the driver missed our stop and we had to make the rest of the route to get back, but once we got there the stop was very close to the hotel.

The hotel is situated in a very pretty, quaint residential neighbourhood, and is run like a home: as soon as we got there we were greeted warmly and offered wine or tea before being showed to our room. To be honest I would have rather unpack and then have the wine, but it was very relaxing, in a living room with an awesome fireplace, where we talked to another guest. Other guests kept coming and were greated in the same manner, until there were around 5 of us drinking and chatting in the living room. Great experience!

We then went up and were showed our room. The hotel is an old Mannor, but very clean and well preserved. The room and bathroom were a bit old fashioned, but all very welcoming. Bed was comfy and the view was nice but we had to minor issues during our stay: the night we arrived, the heating was not working in our room. Middle of March in Dublin can be cold, and we asked for it to be solved. In the end it was indeed solved, but it took a couple of hours and 2 visits from the owner and a technician. The other issue was noise-related: the second night a guest sleeping in the adjacent room snored like a drunken beast, and we could really hear it. We tried to bang a bit in the walls to see if something happened, but eventually fell asleep after an hour or so.

The location is very nice and we made it walking to the centre and aviva stadium, which was great for getting to know Dublin. You can also take a cheap bus, but the weather was fair and we opted for walking. The only problem with the location is that it's extremely residential, and the night we arrived I was dying to get a drink but we got there late (around 10pm) and the pubs nearby were closed when we checked them at around 11pm.

The best thing of this hotel, by far, is the breakfast. My goodness, it was one of the greatest breafasts I've had, with pancakes, eggs, scones, tarts, and just about everything cooked to order, with delicious pastries, syrups, breads, juices and coffee. The dining room overlooks a beautiful garden and we truly enjoyed waking up every morning to have breakfast there.

All in all, I think the hotel is very good, nothing fancy (other than the breakfast), but the service was excellent and we truly felt at home. Would glady repeat my stay!

What a lovely hotel with a friendly and helpful staff. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Would recommend this to all my friends. The breakfast was excellent. The hotel is well placed for access into Dublin with the Dart railway a short walk away and the number 1 bus starts from just outside.
Nice outside area when the weather is good. Free tea and coffee with home made biscuits are available either in the room or the louge area. This was most appreciated after a day out sightseeing.
