I had a pleasant, though short, stay at Avalon house. There is a 24 hour reception, friendly staff, the front door stays locked, and there are lockers you can rent for 2 euro a day. The breakfast is decent. The twin room was small but not crampy. The pillows were extremely small, but that seems to be the case in a lot of hostels in Ireland. There's a towel, and bedlinnen. 5 showers and 4 toilets for one floor, which was absolutely sufficient. There's a pooltable and a basement where you can sit or watch movies. The hostel itself organises bar crawls and (walking) tours through the city. I probably will book there again if I decide to stay in Dublin again. Oh yeah, the TempleBar is a ten minute walk away.

It was an average hostel stay. Nothing particularly special. Mattress was awful, but the rest of the room was just fine. The only thing that was particularly bad was the internet speed. Could barely load simple internet pages which obviously eliminated the use of VoIP and Skype use. Otherwise good.

Thanks for the review

Sorry to hear about his problem with the WIFI, we have had the whole system upgraded so there shouldn't have been any issues with it, I will look into it though as it could be a particular device

Best Wishes,

I stayed here with my dad for a birthday trip. The staff are friendly, very helpful. The room itself had two single beds and a sink in it. The pillows were rather uncomfortable but everything else seemed fine. Breakfast was decent for the price of the stay and the location is fantastic. Everything to see in Dublin is within walking distance. :)

We were a group of 20 from Germany. Nice and friendly staff. Great location, just a ten minute walk from Temple Bar. Shops, cafés and a nice park just around the corner. Will stay there the next time again...

Hi guys,
I spent a lot of months in this Hostel and I really recommend it.
It's a nice place where staff is very friendly, nice and helpful.
The room are very clean to be an hostel and they change your sheets and pillow cases every 3 days. Also the sharing room are nice with a lot of space and the people that I met there were very nice and respectful. I spent great time there, at the moment I get an apartment in Dublin but I always go there once per week because I miss the lovely athmosphere.
The only negative aspect is that the kitchen closes at 10.00 pm, that it's a littel bit early if you like eating late.
Anyway I traied a lot of Hostel in Dublin, but I think Avalon House is the best one.
