Owner description: A bustling city street lined with monuments dedicated to some of the leaders in the fight for Irish independence.

I visited recently with a friend and walked up and down and went in all the shops, especially Cleary's, Penneys and the Gresham Hotel. A great atmosphere. I loved looking into the big Post office with all its history surrounding the 1916 Easter uprising. Take plenty of time and enjoy each shop.

Dirty, shabby and filled with beggars, junkies, drunks and scary looking individuals. What used to be quite an impressive thoroughfare in years past, O'Connell Street has been allowed to disintegrate and become a hell hole. Anyone staying in this area is taking their lives into their hands - sad to be reviewing it but felt I had to.

O'Connell Street is busy and bustling with people. We stopped in a few pubs for drinks, chatted up the locals, and enjoyed people watching as the crowds went by.

beggars, muggers, lousy teens, loud and drunk folks, junkies, smelly fast foods...you have it all.
A bad street with a bad fame...stay away.

I liked it. Ate fish in Beshoff's one night, had breakfast in La Pizza another morning. I like The Spire, because I can get a bit lost up the side streets, but when you see that silver spike you can re-orient yourself by it. The other statues up the middle were a source of unintended mirth. One had a sports team's scarf wrapped around it, celebrating some win. Another always seemed to have a bird perched on top of it's head. The street is is wide and bright and clean. There's great visibility, so you're safe crossing to see stuff. There were a couple of cops (one on a 2 wheeled thingy) we could ask directions from.
