After staying in a number of hotels in this area of Dublin recently, we now choose the Mont Clare every time. The location of this hotel is excellent for any visitor, with many of Dublin's main attractions within a short walk and for those a little further away the hop on hop off bus stop is opposite the hotel. However, the main reason we choose this hotel are the staff. Every time we visit each staff member has made us feel like it's our home away from home. Rachel on reception has gone out of our way to help us in so many ways. Food in the hotel is very good and often served by the wonderful character "Bernie " who goes out of her way to get to know and look after each guest. What would I change? The lift can be a little noisy and I would prefer more options on the bar menu( perhaps a traditional irish meal or pasta option). Note: rooms on the 5th floor are smaller though still adequate.

Stayed 2 nights on business at recommendation of host. Super friendly staff helped with umbrella and electrical converter and made check-in, check-out a breeze. Can walk to many sights and restaurants. There was good wi-fi, but I can't recall if there was a charge for it. Would stay here again.

We recently stayed at the Mont Clare with our group tour. We enjoyed our service from Bernie in the restaurant. She was friendly and very attentive. We couldn't have asked for a better waitress. She made our morning bright! Also, the wait staff in the bar on the evening of Saturday, July 19, 2014 was great. We had a large group there with our American band performing. They were great and worked VERY hard that evening with excellent service. (Three cheers to them).

We chose this hotel because of its price point and location. Our booking was done online a few months before we arrived and we were glad we did this in advance because hotel availability was as scarce as hen's teeth. There is a restaurant but we did not eat there - did not look very busy anytime we passed through the lobby. Reception was very good at check in and we were able to leave our bags there until our room was ready. Our room was on the 4th floor and the elevator worked well for our stay - no long waits up or down. The elevator did have a shutter to it when starting from ground floor going up which was unnerving at first. We had a street facing room and noise level from traffic below was not a problem. A/C was okay and we felt comfortable with air temperature. From the window you can see Merrion Park and the sister hotel to this O'Callaghan was across the street, beautifully lit up at night. The washroom was small, clean and well stocked with toiletries, towels etc. The shower needs some explanation and once you figure out how it works you have no problems. The shower/tub combo has separate controls for the tub and the water lines in the tub faucet do not mix in the faucet, they come out as separate cold and hot water flows. The shower handle control located above the tub faucet controls the flow of water and temperature coming out of the shower head. To get the right temperature for your shower the shower handle should be positioned at 5 o'clock looking at it straight on. This will give you the correct temperature not too cold, not steaming hot - just hot enough for a good shower. Our bed was King sized and very comfortable. A small LCD TV mounted on wall came with good selection of programs. Wifi was solid and no blank spots or slow speeds experienced - we had no problem using Skype on our mobile devices to phone friends/family in North America. Coffee and tea plus kettle were replenished each day. Towels were replaced if you decided to have fresh ones. The hotel is strategically placed for location to most site attractions in Dublin. Grafton street is nearby, National Gallery just around corner and down the block plus more. For eating on the cheap there is a Subway out the door and turn left it is near the end of block. We also ate at Pablo Pacante - burrito - Mexican food for not very much money but very tasty and filling. The hotel is a little bit dated but the location is terrific. In summary I would recommend this hotel to others.

Room Tip: Corner suites likely would give you optimal viewing

Stayed at the mont clare for the weekend. Staff couldnt be more helpful. I have stayed in many hotels and this tops them all for the choice at breakfast. Room was just the perfect size for myself and my friend. Free wifi a bonus. Only a 10-15 minute walk from temple bar. Would definately recommend this hotel and would not hesiate to stay there again. The beds were the best I have ever selpt in.

The OCallaghan MontClare was in a great location for everything we did in Dublin. The room was clean and nice, and the staff there - from the breakfast servers to the front desk - were very friendly, welcoming and showed us excellent customer service. I wouldn't hesitate to stay there again on future trips.
