Overall, there were larger and more-modern hotels I could have stayed at during my Dublin trip, but I was very pleased with the accommodations at the Harding. This was kind of a step back in time, with a small, quite lobby, congenial service, and a sense of authenticity that only comes with age. The location, right across from Christ Church Cathedral and within walking distance of Temple Bar, is perfect for sight-seers who want to be in the middle of it all. The only drawback was that the hotel is adjacent to a pub that was somewhat raucous in the evenings. But other than that bit of noise, it was still a very positive stay and experience.

You can't find a better place to see Dublin than from the Harding Hotel. Located on the edge of Temple Bar, it is literally a stone's throw from Christchurch Cathedral, an imposing landmark to help you get your bearings. We walked to Dublin Castle, Trinity College, the Post Office, St. Stephen's Green, Ha'Penny Bridge, Brazen Head Pub, and many more "must see" locations. At first we planned to take the Hop On/Hop Off bus but realized we could walk to all the significant locations (except the Gaol) so skipped the bus. As other reviews have said, we took the Airlink bus from the airport and, except for my not knowing left from right, we found it immediately (along with making many new friends along the way who helped the directionally-challenged Yank.) An unpretentious hotel that gets the basics right (spacious room, large comfortable bed, plenty of storage, clean bathroom with plenty of hot water, fan for cooling, elevator) the Harding is a great bargain in a terrific location. Our room was so quiet that we didn't even hear the bells of Christchurch! Our two nights were much better than we hoped since big cities are not our favorite. However, we loved Dublin in large measure because of our splendid location and secure, cozy hotel. (The only surprise was a rather aloof desk staff---not rude, but not typical of the warmhearted greetings we received from most Irish people including big city Dubliners. They treat you courteously and competently but don't expect a smile or small talk. It's all business.)

Room Tip: Hard to say which is best. We were on the third floor and looked out on the office building across...

Dear broncoboy66,

Thank you for taking the time to post such a positive review of the Harding Hotel.

I am delighted that you found the Harding Hotel to tick so many of your boxes when visiting Dublin with regards location, cleanliness, room quality and value.
I was surprised to read your comments about the staff as we usually do very well in guest's ratings of customer service but I will certainly have a discussion about this with front desk staff who while being very busy at this time of year always greet guests with a warm hello and are always available to offer advice/answer queries 24/7.

I do hope that we may be able to welcome you back to the Harding in the near future and please contact the Harding Hotel directly by email on info@hardinghotel.ie or by calling 00353 1 6796500.

My partner and I stayed here for two nights in late May 2014. The hotel is in the perfect location for sight seeing in Dublin and is easily reachable from the airport via the 747 airlink bus (stopping at Christchurch cathedral). In terms of decor the hotel is not the nicest, however it is very clean which for me, is one of the most important factors! We booked last minute so expected one of the smallest rooms but we were pleasantly surprised when we arrived to a spacious family room with a double bed, single, pleanty of storage space and a small seating area- which was great!

In summary, good points of the hotel are:

-Great location! Within walking distance of everything you'd want to see and close enough to Temple Bar to feel in the heart of it but far enough away to not be disturbed by noise from it.

-Great facilities in the room. Tea/ Coffee making facilities, Iron and ironing board, hairdryer and even a small fridge which was very useful!

-Although dated, everything was very clean.

-Comfortable beds.

-Friendly staff. We did not use the restaurant or bar but were always greeted with a smile from the reception staff. I also emailed ahead asking how to get to the hotel from the airport and received step by step directions which were extremely helpful.

Not so good points:

-The dated decor. The place is in real need of a lick of paint and a bit of a kick into the 21st centuary (still has old box tv's). None of this really bothered us as it was clean and comfortable but it might bother others.

-The bathroom. Don't get me wrong the bathroom was clean as well but also needed a bit of TLC and regrouting. The one thing I really didn't like (and I think this is also a personal thing) was instead of a cubicle door around the shower it was a shower curtain- which I hate!

-Noise. There is live music in the bar every evening and on our first night it kept us awake for quite a while. We were on the 2nd floor but still managed to hear it. We could also here the bells from the cathedral. On the second night the music stopped a bit earlier so didn't keep us awake. It's a busy city so we kind of expect noise but if we were to stay in the Harding again we would certainly ask for a top floor room to be as far from the bar as possible.

Couldn't comment on the food or drink as we didn't sample any of it. All in all we had a great time in Dublin. The hotel is in a perfect location, is clean, our room was spacious and met all of our needs.

Room Tip: Ask for a top floor room.

My husband and I stayed here three nights during our vacation in May. The hotel is in a great, convenient location. Within walking distance to most major sites in Dublin. The rooms were simple and clean. Easy to get to hop on/hop off buses and Airlink bus to the airport. We had some difficulty finding a place to park when we first arrived. We were not aware that the parking garage is located across the street. The cafe attached to the hotel is very good and convenient.

The Harding Hotel was a great experience for my trip. It is located in a nice location in Dublin. I stayed for two nights May 19-21 and had a really excellent time. The room was clean and met all of my needs. I have no complaints in regards to the noise level from the bells of Christchurch across the street nor from the bar downstairs. Great location to catch the airlink bus to and from the airport. Would definitely stay again and recommend to everyone for price, staff and location.
