Went here on the 2nd July 2014 with my mum and my 18 month old and we all loved it. The tour guides, Paul and Paul, were amazing! They were so friendly and helpful while being engaging and informative which I'm sure is not always easy with a mixture of adults and children to keep happy. The samples of chocolate truffles, fudge and hot chocolate drink were great and really added to the experience.
The history of chocolate and the factory were interesting without too much information. Decorating our own chocolate elephant at the end really was the icing on the cake. It was a great experience and something different to do with children. Seeing the factory floor is great, makes such a difference to see where the chocolate comes from.
While it is quite expensive I feel it is worth it as you are with a tour guide at all times, the free samples and it takes 2 hours. There is a cafe and shop downstairs that offers 10% off normal retail prices.
They were so child friendly although mine wasn't all that interested as she is too young, they still tried to include her and made sure she was well taken care of of. There is a life to bring the buggy up and down the stairs which is handy. While I'll admit it is a bit hard to find, it's not impossible and there is ample parking. Would definitely advise booking it online in advance.
I couldn't recommend this tour enough for a chocolate lover. Real Willy Wonka experience.
