“Good for a Short Stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 August 2014

If you just need a place for a night or two, this hotel is good. The rooms are a bit small and our room was noisy facing Talbot Street. It was a little hard to find, there are businesses on both sides of the door to the hotel which the lobby is situated in the back of the building but the rooms are front facing above the downstair businesses. There is a banner that hangs down, about the only way to find it. The staff is very friendly and the hotel is in great walking distance to O'Connell Street and there is a grocery store a few doors down.

I discovered our shower wasn't working at 8pm on our first night here, when I rang reception he seemed to know exactly what the problem was but said he was on by himself so it wouldn't get fixed until the next day! When I asked to change rooms so I could shower after travelling all day, he said there were no other rooms available. Ended up showering with a kettle of water out of the bathroom sink which has a draining problem as well (almost overflowed). Might be a great location but the facilities are horrible!

The best of this hotel is the location, 3 blocks from the O´Connel Street and The Spire. The room is nice but a little noisy (I was facing Talbot street). When I was living the elevator was not working and the guy from the reception was very kind carrying the suitcase. They are nice and helpful.

Room Tip: Rooms facing Talbot Street are a little noisy.

The rooms were a good size and kept very clean. The mattresses were a bit tough but overall ok. A tip for anyone going: the rooms facing talbot/earl north were very loud (ex:room 208) so ask not to be placed there because it was very loud!

Stayed here for 4 nights with my partner and little girl. I had originally emailed the manager requesting for a room on the fourth floor at the rear of the hotel as people had said that it was a quieter part of the hotel. This is true - the rear of the hotel overlooks a car park for a college? but it was the seagulls that was the noisiest! The room was ok - bit tight for 3 beds but nothing to complain about. The bathroom was adequate but the shower had a fixed head which meant that when it was turned on, cold water rushed out! I would have preferred a shower with a removable head but as the rest of the room was ok, I didn't bother raising it as an issue with the hotel. The location of the hotel was great and not far from the station/tram and centre. The breakfast was satisfactory - choice of cereal, fruit, soda bread, yoghurt, cheeses, hot food - bacon, eggs (scrambled or fried), sausages, tomatoes, beans and hash browns. They also bring toast out and regularly check if you want more.

All the staff that we met were very helpful and friendly.

I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay again!.

This hotel is fine if you are just staying one night in Dublin and simply need a place to sleep. In that respect it is good value. You can just drop off your bags, go out for dinner and drinks and then just come back and get into bed. Otherwise, I would find somewhere more comfortable and in a more desirable location. Although it is in within walking distance of the city centre, it is very loud (including obnoxious seagulls) and difficult to drive to if you are new to the city. One very important point - there is NOT A LOT OF PARKING. In fact there are only 6 spaces - first come first serve! And then they do not fully validate your parking at the multi storey down the road. We did NOT know this despite being reminded that "it's on the website." Ok...thanks. The rooms are clean but tiny - including the beds. Again - fine if you just need a place to sleep for the night.

Dear Reviewer,

Thank you for your review of The Dublin City Inn. We very much appreciate you taken the time in sharing your feedback. I was suprised to see you mention your ticket was not validated at reception as we inform all guests when parking at the QPark the special guest rate applies when we stamp there ticket. I apolgise this not been the case.

I am delighted to see you found your room clean and comfortable and i will pass this on to the accommodation team.

We are a city centre property and the street noise levels would apply to all properties in the city.

We hope to have the opportunity in welcoming you back in the not to distant future.

Many Thanks,
Patrick Carney,
General Manager.

Good value for money. Excellent location. Flight did not get in until 10pm but reception is 24 hours so that wasn't a problem. Stayed for two nights to see a concert in Marlay Park, close to bus stops so it was easy to get too. 15 minute walk from Temple Bar.
