Fantastic hotel! The room we had was identical to the room in the pictures. This hotel will not disappoint. The staff were all really friendly and helpful. The breakfast was also really good! It really sets you up for a busy day in Dublin. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone planning a short stay in Dublin.

For getting into Dublin, there is a main bus route into the city centre and the stop is directly across from the hotel. The bus takes about 10 minutes to reach o'connell street (city centre). Costs €2.35 pp for a single.

We also bought the citysightseeing bus tour tickets (a must when visiting dublin). Cost €19 pp and is valid on the hop on/hop off tour around dublin. We visited the Guinness Storehouse, phoenix park, the zoo and temple bar...I would definitely recommend visiting all these places!

All in all it was a fantastic stay...we would both stay in the Skylon hotel again.

We had an extra large room with two double beds and after one previous night in Paris it felt huge, was huge actually, but very comfy. The location of this hotel was perfect, only a few busstops away from downtown Dublin and halfway to the airport.
The food in the bar/restaurant downstairs was excellent too.

We stayed here on Saturday, and I must say I was very surprised at how nice it is.

Bedrooms are a very good size, and the beds are one of the most comfy beds I ever lay on..

Receptionist was very helpful and cheery

Will definitely use this hotel again.

Very good value for money

We were very happy with this hotel. Upon our arrival, there was a live band playing jazz music in the lobby. Our arrival was a happy one because we love music. We went to dinner across the street at the El Courvo restaurant, very delicious Italian food.

Sometimes you can be a little nervous re-visiting a place you loved - definitely not the case with the Skylon. Again enjoyed fab lunch and dinner in the restaurant, along with a hearty breakfast. Room well up to scratch again and the staff are outstanding in every dealing we had with them in every part of the hotel. It's 'our' Dublin hotel and a gem the second stay also.

Stayed here while working at a local college. Just a one night stay. Didn't eat in the restaurant at night - there were more welcoming places - pubs and restaurants - immediately opposite across the road. The bed was fine. The shower had two settings - very hot and freezing cold. I guess I just don't know how to run a shower, but neither did my colleague in another room. And we've both got PhDs and stay in lots of hotels. Couldn't get the Wifi to work without help from the woman on the front desk - she admitted it was somewhat temperamental. Had the cooked breakfast in the morning. The bacon was fantastic, the white and black pudding were cold, the hash brown was a frozen one heated up, not freshly made. Overall it's an OK hotel, but the building is getting old and tired. One of the 2 lifts didn't work at all while I was there - I ended up waling up and down to the 2nd floor, as the lift was always full - and there seemed to be a couple of blokes permanently crawling on the floor fixing stuff. while I was at the front desk, other guests were phoning down about internet issues, or coming to report problems. Best thing about the stay was that someone else was paying and it was 3 minutes from work. Probably wouldn't stay there out of choice.

Booked this Hotel for a city break based on reviews. The hotel is located just out of town but may not suit everyone although ideal for me. Frequent bus service to the city just across the road €2.35 each way taking 10 minutes. staff very helpful and hotel clean and quiet, even though we arrived at 10 and check in is not till 2 they found an available room. Didn't eat in the hotel itself as there are so many other places even across the road you'll find and Indian, Thai and Chinese plus a dominoes pizza take away. A shuttle bus is available to take you to the airport priced at €3 per person- great! Don't let the location of this hotel put you off, it's excellent value and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again when I return to Dublin. The free wifi throughout the hotel was an added bonus, where others charge for the privilege. Don't hesitate to book you won't regret it. Just compare prices and reviews against U2's Bono's hotel in the city. So glad we booked this one.
