This is a wonderful hotel in central location for easy access to the city centre and the M50.The staff are wonderful and always helpful.

I have stayed here over 200 times and and every time has been wonderful.

We stayed in Dublin at the end of a driving tour of Ireland, and chose BW Skylon Hotel from online reviews, and were not disappointed.
The rooms were large and clean; we dined (breakfast and dinner - two nights, two mornings) and had no complaints - if anything, better than I expected from a larger establishment, catering for a ever-changing "transient" guestlist.
But two things stand out in respect to our visit.
First is the standards exhibited by ALL of the staff.
Ireland deserves it's reputation as being a helpful and friendly place to visit, and BW Skylon is a perfect example.
Everyone, from the wonderfully helpful duty manager, Colette, at the front desk, who went out of her way to confirm our Ryanair reservations, and print the boarding passes to wait staff in the restaurant, to house staff. All FIRST CLASS :)
The second feature which merits comment is the location - literally 5 minutes from the airport; a straight forward drive to the ferry terminal (yes, we used both) an easy 30 minute stroll into the centre of Dublin, or, for those less energetic, it is just a few minutes on the bus from downtown.
BestWestern Skylon Dublin ticked all the boxes as far as these intrepid travelers are concerned.

The location of this hotel and its good price makes this hotel an excellent choice when visiting Dublin. We have used it almost everytime on our yearly visits to Dublin. The buss to both goes just outside the door.
With good shoes you can walk to the centre in 15-20 minutes.
Rooms are a good size and clean with watersaving showerheads.
For a few extra euros you get a businessroom whih is larger and often are located towards the back of the hotel where it is much more quiet at night.
There is some noise here too - from the hotel carpark which is a problem when guests leave for an early flight. The hotel food was definitly better here before. We have had family get-to- gethers here before and were very happy with the food and service. We did not last time-just had individual plates before going elsewere.
The food us ok - but the world has moved on - sadly The Skylon is lagging behind. Breskfast is expensive for what you get so we hop on the buss and have something nice in town.
All in all we are still very happy with the hotel- specially its near ideal
location between centre and airport. We will continue using it in the future.

Room Tip: The rooms at the back should de chosen by light sleepers

We recently spent three nights re-visiting this hotel in June (please refer to my previous review dated 11th June 2013). It was an excuse to come back to Dublin Fair City to celebrate my birthday.

The warm Irish welcome was still there and the place was extremely busy, bursting with visitors. We were disappointed to find out that the receptionist Aoife was no longer there. However they still have other excellent staff, in particular, Simon in the bar and Toni in the restaurant.

We were in room 310 on the third floor facing the front main road. In spite of that, traffic noise was not too bad, just like last year when we were in a similar room 410 upstairs. The room was well furnished and the bed was comfortable. The en-suite facilities were fine, although the power of the shower over the bath was not that strong.

We can put hand on heart to say that we have once again enjoyed our stay. On the other hand, we would be failing if we did not point out that the overall standard in the hotel had dropped noticeably on this occasion. For example on the second morning at breakfast we were kept waiting for 30 minutes before succeeding to draw attention to order tea and cooked breakfast. There were three staff members doing the serving and clearly they were completely overwhelmed by the workload. They seemed to be spending a lot of their time clearing tables instead of attending to existing guests. One young girl in particular was not in tune with the rest, as she was not suitably dressed with long hair falling all over her face and food. One gained the impression that she was casual staff and was only called upon at short notice.

Judging by the majority of the "excellent" or "very good" reviews recently published in Trip Advisor, it is possible that our experience was just a one -off. Thus we do sincerely hope the management will take note of our latest review as we certainly would not want to be put off for another visit sometime in the future.

Dear Sir

Thank you for taking the time to write the review. I am sorry to hear that your latest stay in the Hotel was somewhat disappointing. I will have maintenance check the shower in the room. In relation to the delay with the breakfast, I can only sincerely apologise to you for this, it is not our policy to have guest's waiting any length of time to be served. We have fully qualified staff in all departments. On very busy mornings such as the one you experienced we sometimes have to get help from members of staff in other departments. I apologise for the way in which she was presented & can assure you was a once off. Thank you again & we look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel.

Kind Regards

Colette Harford

The hotel is in an ideal location, not far from the airport nor the city centre. We got a bus pass for our three day stay for 30 euros and we could hop off and on as much as we wanted. There is a bus stop just outside. The hotel itself was very welcoming, in reception there are plenty of comfy sofas (although the décor was a bit exuberant.) The receptionist was very polite and helpful and our room was ready despite us being early. One of the elevators was being repaired however it did not affect us too greatly. We were on the 5th floor and our room was very clean and comfortable. The connecting restaurant was great too, the food was fairly priced and was very good. Would definitely stay here again,

Hotel is ideally placed for city and airport extremely clean comfortable rooms with wifi. Couldn't say enough about the staff very warm and friendly but the food is awful. Wouldn't blame the chef outright but a few chips and cheap salad and a 6 oz steak when advertise as a 10 oz. Breakfast was dry ,looked reheated. Pity but would stay here again. Maybe skip the grub.

Thank you for your review. I am surprised to hear your disappointment regarding the food. We pride ourselves on using Fresh Local produce. I will pass your comments onto our Chef's who take both positive & negative reviews very seriously. We are very pleased that the rest of your stay was a very enjoyable one apart for the food. We look forward to welcoming you back to the hotel & promise a whole new delightful eating experience.

This hotel is very luxurious and spacious, very nice for a 3 star. The restaurants in the hotel are very good too. It's a family run hotel and the location is a perfect location. It's not far from Dublin airport and also very close to Dublin's city centre. I would definitely choose this hotel again if I had to visit Dublin city again.
