Hotel Riu Plaza The Gresham Dublin
Ranked #54 of 150 Hotels in Dublin

I was thrilled when my husband surprised me with a four night stay at the Gresham Hotel for our honeymoon in Dublin. It is an impressive building with the opulence and charm of a bygone age, steeped in history. The receptionists and concierges were welcoming, helpful and efficient. Our bedroom and bathroom (both overlooking O'Connell Street!) were spacious and comfortable, with an excellent standard of housekeeping maintained throughout our stay. The hotel is in a perfect location as it is on the airport and open top bus routes and within easy walking distance of the delights of Dublin...It is a pity, however, that such a traditional hotel doesn't offer dinner in a more formal dining room, as the bistro-style dining area seems at odds with the general ambiance of the place. The 'tired' soft furnishings in the bar and lounge areas are in desperate need of some tlc to do the grand rooms that they occupy justice... to end on a positive, I can highly recommend the champagne afternoon tea!

Stayed one night on business. Excellent room with very good service. The decor is fantastic and adds to the nostalgia of being in Dublin. Close to temple bar ; so able to stumble/sing/dance back to the hotel with ease. My only gripe is lack of leisure facilities particularly a swimming pool. Apart from this a hotel that I am happy to recommend.

After trying several city centre hotels in Dublin and disappointed on each occasion I have eventually found a pleasant place to stay in Dublin city centre. The rooms were very spacious, tastefully decorated, very comfortable king-size bed and bathroom with a separate bath and shower. The staff, whether at the reception, restaurant or bar were extremely polite and helpful.
It was the first time in a Dublin hotel that we were NOT woken up by drunken stag or hen party-goers during the night.
I checked out of the Best Western Academy Plaza just around the corner where I was in a "box room" for a higher price, the Gresham was luxurious in comparison.

New Zealand is no longer the land of the hobbits.... it is Ireland... -and specially Dublin. And if you are staying in Gresham you think this is a hotel for smaller people. My balcony is bigger than my hotel room was.

It is oldfashioned not in a negative way and if you expect to sleep in a clean bed this is fine.... -but not for more than EUR 110 per night.

Like in many other places the technical environment in the room is very bad. The TV is linked to the Internet and there is a keyboard but the keyboard does not work.

There is a European plug but there is no electricity.

The overall experience is..... a night is ok..... -what I have to point out free Internetis everywhere, but the room for what you get is still too expensive.

The location is great but location is not everything.

There were lots of little things that delighted me - the excellent location, the wonderful overhead shower, the lashings of hot water, the crisp white bed linen but mostly I was heartened by the Reception staff who were so courteous, welcoming, friendly and helpful. I asked if it would be possible to leave our luggage for a few hours after Checking Out time. The response "Madam, here everything is possible " was enchanting.

We had a brilliant weekend at The Gresham Hotel.

We came by car from just outside Belfast, and arrived quite earlier than the check-in time. But our room was ready and check-in was easy, we were given a car park ticket also and once we were parked we could go straight to the room from the car park lift.

The room was spotless, with an iron and ironing board, & tea/coffee making facility.

Every member of staff that we passed during our stay would always acknowledge us.

The location is absolutely perfect, and just as everyone else has seemed to already said, everything is right outside. The Sightseeing bus is right outside which took us everywhere we wanted to go, from the Guinness Storehouse to Kilmainham Gaol etc.

We were B&B and were more than impressed with the both standard of food and the service we received in The Gallery Restaurant.

We will definitely be returning again in the near future.

Emma Shaw.

It's a lovely location and a really great hotel, but I just feel like its full of posh people, but without the poshness of a hotel.

The rooms are spacious, and really comforting, but the shower was slow and not that warm, the hotel staff were foreign and seemed like they had an attitude. But overall a nice hotel, but I'd shop around for a better more modern hotel in that area. The Best Western is just around the corner and I have stayed there before, I feel it offers more comfort and value for money.

Free wifi in hotel is a positive
