“Gresham - feel the character”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

Flying visit to Dublin for just one night and plumped for the Gresham due to it's central location. A beautiful hotel that has retained an ambience of a long history notwithstanding an extensive revamp with a spacious lobby and great front office welcome. The writers lounge is a joy - comfortable with an air of sophistication from another, gentler era. I was in a rear room so cannot comment on whether street noise from the busy thoroughfare of Upper O'Connell Street may be an issue - however, handy for grabbing a taxi. You must do Guiness (storehouse) and Kilmainham Gaol as a minimum. The full Irish breakfast cannot be faulted. The rooms are smart, beds extremely comfortable and have all the usual comforts - wifi, tea/coffee making (it's kept in the bottom drawer of the large desk for the person who missed it!). I shall book the Gresham again on my next visit to the fine city of Dublin.

We stayed here with our daughter on Sunday 8th June. Informed the hotel of our circumstances and the fact we would have a lot of belongings with us and we were given a complimentary upgrade for which we were so grateful. The hotel was beautiful, lovely helpful, friendly and chatty staff and the room was absolutely amazing. The breakfast the following morning was also fantastic, so much choice and really tasty. I could not fault this hotel whatsoever and it will be the only place we stay any time we visit Dublin in the future.

Located on one of the main streets , but away from the hen and stag nights of temple bar. Handy for shops. Plenty of bars around. We went to Madigans for a bite to eat and stayed to listen to the live music. It was fab!! Well as long as you like day dream believer , Neil diamond type music .
Hotel is old kept lovely, shiny brass handles , wide corridors. Room are have been modernised and really comfortable . We found staff really friendly and happy to help . Did not stay for breakfast as €20 each just seemed a bit over priced

Room Tip: Quieter rooms are at the back

Dear campervan11

Thank you for your review for The Gresham Hotel.

We do appreciate your comments and I am delighted you had enjoyed your stay. Improvements and enhancements are constantly made to our bedrooms and it is great to read the efforts have not gone unnoticed!

I appreciate your comments regarding the pricing for breakfast. Due to the size of variety of buffet on offer, this is the price which is charged. However, we are in Dublin City Centre and there are facilities available to suit all price ranges and requirements.

We shall be delighted to welcome you back in the future. Please do not hesitate in to contact me directly, where I will make sure you receive our very best room rates.

First time being in the Gresham or staying there.
The charm of the old building and location is really nice.
There is a great buzz to the place.
The rooms may be a little dated, but for such a large busy city centre hotel, it is hard to fault.
The front desk are so quick in processing cheek in and out, or any requests, a lot of competitors could learn something.
I only stayed here as Thursday 12th June, 2014 seemed to be booked out on the south side.
I will be back.

We chose The Gresham after reading reviews. We were really pleased we did.The staff were friendly especially Andrew who greeted us on reception and got us checked in very quickly. We chose to have breakfast on arrival as we had had an early flight out of the UK.The double rooms were spacious ,comfortable and clean. The location is perfect ,close to Temple bar ,museums and shops. There is a bus stop just outside which takes you to the airport,we went in a taxi which cost 25 euros,it took about 20 minutes,We would definitely stay here again

First off, I would like to say that the staff here is top notch. Very friendly, professional and helpful. The front desk people were great and the bar staff in the Writer's Lounge went above and beyond. A big hat's off to John in the bar. He was friendly and took good care of us. The rooms, however, leave much to be desired. Very dated, even worn. The bathroom was very awkward to use and had no space for toiletries etc. Also, if you don't want a noisy room on the street, the view is pretty awful. I realize this is an old building, but some updating is needed. Having said that, the location is very convenient and most city center attractions are within walking distance. Just not four star.
