This was a great budget option for our trip! The location was great - close/within walking distance to everything but not noisy. We took the Air Coach from the airport and it was a quick walk from our drop off point on O'Connell. Our room was CLEAN, cute and had character, and was fairly spacious compared to other places we have stayed in Europe. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but we were not expecting much. We would stay there again!

I stayed 3 nights in The Townhouse. It is a reasonably priced B&B, conveniently located close to attractions and city rail stations. The Airlink bus from the airport stops very close to the hotel. Breakfast is not free, but at 5 Euros it is basic and there are healthy options. I booked an ensuite room in the newer addition. It was clean and comfortable. No fridge, basic cable TV, comfortable bed. My room had a small balcony overlooking the patio at the back of the building, and if I opened the door, the breeze was pleasant. Wifi is free and the signal is strong enough.

Room Tip: Ask for an ensuite room in the newly remodeled section of the hotel.

We stayed at the Townhouse for 2 nights at the end of our 2 week trip through out Ireland, The room was comfortable, clean with a nice bathroom and the WIFI signal was strong. Breakfast was not included but could be purchased for between 3-7 Euros depending on what you ordered. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the location is close (15 minute walk) to Trinity, the Temple Bar etc. The only downside is that it was very noisy at night due to the proximity of several pubs. This was exacerbated by the fact that we had to keep our windows open due to an unusual heat wave. All in all though, we would stay again.

I stayed here last weekend and will say that it was a good hotel. I arrived very early and they let me check in early which was a godsend. the room was a single room with an ensuite. the room and bathroom were immaculately clean, and the food wasnt bad. I think I will stay here again if im in dublin again. the hotel was very centrally located just 2 mins walk from the central bus station.

Room Tip: book direct with the hotel and recieve breakfast for free, otherwise its 5 euros.

This hotel is near the most interesting parts of Dublin. The room was nice, big, nice bathroom. Good standards. No carpet, thankfully. We did not have breakfast included so I don't know what it is like. The location was a bit loud in the evenings, people partying outside.

When a hotel's website emphasizes its great service, maybe that's a tip-off that the facility itself doesn't have much to offer. That seemed to be the case with The Townhouse on Gardiner Street.

Entering the Townhouse, we noticed a brass plaque on the desk with the title, "Director of First Impressions." Cute, maybe, but in our view, this person should be fired. The entry and lobby rugs were old and frayed, and the carpeting on the stairs leading up to a mezzanine level looked just plain dirty. We had to cross the mezzanine lounge area to get to the elevator to our room. Unfortunately, it was littered with bored-looking adolescents immersed in their cell phones and tablets, sitting or lying on most of the furniture. It appears that this hotel has a split personality, part hotel, part youth hostel. Shared services include reception and the dining room.

Our twin-bed room was a shoebox on the third floor, with one casement window. Both sides should have opened. However, the bracket on one side was broken. Rather than repair it, the window was just painted shut. No fan was provided, so we had to keep the window open for some ventilation. Having traveled almost thirteen hours from Edinburgh by bus, train, ferry and taxi, we were exhausted and sleep was high on the list. That, however, was to prove as impossible to get as unicorn teeth. Our room was right over an alley that was the rear serving area for a pub. We listened to loud crowd noise and the clank, rattle and crash of cans and bottles going into a dumpster all...night...long. We also found leftover soap in the shower dish
and someone's used toothpaste on the sink plug.

Breakfast next morning was served cafeteria style, which only emphasized the student hostel atmosphere, and was uninspring.

Muriel at the front desk gets huge kudos for moving us into a better room, but even here, the sash window was broken and rigged up with a pulley, a knotted cord and a cleat. Come on. If the only source of ventilation is windows, they have to work! And even here, no one bothered to check the closet, where an odd t-shirt had been left.

Pass this one up.

Room Tip: Ask for one facing the interior courtyard.
