“Very fair deal ”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 August 2014 via mobile

Quite a fair deal for a family of four, even though breakfast is not included (but only 5 euro).
Very well located less than 10' walk from Temple Bar. The street itself is of little interest but you are not supposed to stay there for your holidays.
Accommodation is correct, room for four was a little tiny though, however quiet overnight.

Visited with my younger sister in August. The location was walkable to every site, the front desk was cheeky and helpful. The rooms while smaller and sharing a hallway bathroom is tolerable and quality given the price. Spent 3 days here and could have stayed more.

For a budget hotel, The Townhouse met my needs. It's located right near the central bus station, so it's easy to get to and from the airport. If you're a moderately good walker, you can easily stroll along the river to Trinity College (location of the Book of Kells and other manuscripts), and to the Temple Bar area. Again, if you're a moderately good walker you can walk to the pick-up point for a Newgrange bus tour at the corner of O'Connell Street and Parnell Square.

I'd read that Upper Gardiner street is a bit dicey, but Lower Gardiner Street, where the Townhouse is located, is fine. I'm a single female who's attuned to any sign of danger, and I felt comfortable in this neighborhood.

The building is quirky. It seems cobbled together from a few different buidings. Personally, I liked the quirkiness.
I had a single room on an upper floor that opened onto the courtyard. The room had two full length glass French doors that opened onto a little balcony. The room wasn't large, but it was all I needed. The bathroom wasn't high quality, and the hot water was sometimes lukewarm, but the bathroom was functional.

The buildings contain both a hotel and a hostel. The communal areas are the lounge and the dining room. I enjoyed the crazy mix of ages, languages, and traveler types.

The breakfast was good and filling.
Wifi was good except for part of a day; it seemed to need re-booting, but the staff didn't believe it at first, even when pointed out to them. The email part that they needed worked. It was the Internet part that wasn't working. By the next morning, wifi was fully functioning again.

For me, the Townhouse provided good value and a quirky, cobbled together, slightly run-down charm. I'd go back.

Room Tip: My room opened onto the interior courtyard. In the evening, some of the hostelers gathered in the c...

This was a great budget option for our trip! The location was great - close/within walking distance to everything but not noisy. We took the Air Coach from the airport and it was a quick walk from our drop off point on O'Connell. Our room was CLEAN, cute and had character, and was fairly spacious compared to other places we have stayed in Europe. The bed wasn't the most comfortable but we were not expecting much. We would stay there again!

I stayed 3 nights in The Townhouse. It is a reasonably priced B&B, conveniently located close to attractions and city rail stations. The Airlink bus from the airport stops very close to the hotel. Breakfast is not free, but at 5 Euros it is basic and there are healthy options. I booked an ensuite room in the newer addition. It was clean and comfortable. No fridge, basic cable TV, comfortable bed. My room had a small balcony overlooking the patio at the back of the building, and if I opened the door, the breeze was pleasant. Wifi is free and the signal is strong enough.

Room Tip: Ask for an ensuite room in the newly remodeled section of the hotel.

We stayed at the Townhouse for 2 nights at the end of our 2 week trip through out Ireland, The room was comfortable, clean with a nice bathroom and the WIFI signal was strong. Breakfast was not included but could be purchased for between 3-7 Euros depending on what you ordered. The staff were friendly and very helpful and the location is close (15 minute walk) to Trinity, the Temple Bar etc. The only downside is that it was very noisy at night due to the proximity of several pubs. This was exacerbated by the fact that we had to keep our windows open due to an unusual heat wave. All in all though, we would stay again.
