Just back from staying at the Arlington Hotel in Dublin at O'Connell bridge for St. Patricks weekend. Absolutely brilliant weekend with so much going on at the hotel there was no need to leave if you didn't want to. Stayed here umpteen times now and the staff as as helpful as usual especially the lady at the front of house for breakfasts who never forgets a face.

Stayed on the 4th floor with a huge bedroom and although the hotel was bouncing, we never heard a thing (411), great location. The rooms are a bit dated and the refurbishment not reached here yet, but nothing to complain about and would ask for this one again.

There were bands on throughout the day as well as the Irish dancers which were superb.

The only hiccup was a problem with the water which stopped working from lunch time on St. Patricks day (the worst day for it to happen)! Toilets were getting buckets of water dumped in them and I feel sorry for the poor workers. The toilet in our bedroom was out of order until 3am and couldnt get a shower in the morning. Apparently was a problem with the council but wasn't very handy. The hotel handled it well though and wouldn't put me off staying here.

Would also recommend the Thai Orchid restaurant just over the bridge and is brilliant. Pity I was too full of Kopperberg to do it justice!!

When can I go back???

My friend and I travelled from Belfast to stay in the Arlington over St Patricks day. The staff were fantastic, hotel was very clean and close to Temple bar. The food in the bar was top class also. I was very impressed and will definitely be back! I've never experienced such a kind and caring bunch of staff. Every one I came across was so friendly and helpful!

I have just returned from a weekend (St. Patrick's Weekend) at the Arlington Hotel. Before writing this review I looked at previous reviews and noticed the hotel has a recurrent problem - NO HOT WATER!!

On the Sunday morning I went to shower at 0745 and realised there was no hot water. Went down to reception where the receptionist said she knew there was no hot water on the 4th floor, but didn't realise it was the same on the 1st floor!! She said she would ask the maintenance man to look at the problem. At 0830 (still no hot water) I went back down to reception and spoke to the Duty Manager where she explained the problem had occurred because HALF the hotel had had a shower at the same time and the water pressure had dropped, but that the water was now heating up and shouldn't be long. At 0930 I enquired again about the lack of hot water - and was advised that they had called out an engineer to look at the problem. At 1030, after going back to reception I was advised I could take a shower in the other part of the hotel (accessed by the stairs at the entrance), I was given a pass-key to a room that had recently been vacated, but at least the bathroom had been cleaned, fresh towels and, at last - hot water.

The hotel obviously has a problem with the hotel water in one part of the hotel, this needs to be addressed immediately.

Apart from this, the rooms are large, if a little dated. The lady in charge of the Breakfast Room is a very cheery and friendly person, who likes to make everyone feel welcome - perhaps they should put her in charge of the hotel!

Room Tip: For hot water - make sure your room is in the part accessed by the stairs at the entrance!

I've stayed at this location twice, and both visits were excellent. I had a room on the top floor overlooking the river which was nice. It can get a bit noisy at times but this is due to the location, it's no fault of the hotel at all. Staff was helpful & friendly. Hop-on, Hop-off bus stop is literally right outside the door & tons of things to do within walking distance. Perfect location to use as a home base for exploring the city. There's an excellent jewellery store right next door, too! :-)

This hotel features on many deals and is in a central location by the River Liffy close to O’Connell Bridge. The rooms have all the basic amenities are well serviced and clean. Coffee facilities, ironing board, TV, hair dryer and soap dispensers but no fridge. You cannot ask or expect more in budget hotels. It is not a five star hotel and does not pretend to be but what it does it does well. Friendly, helpful staff and free Wifi. The rooms vary in size and some can be noisy. A show bar forms part of the hotel and it is on a main busy road. The staff will try and accommodate you but it is a very busy hotel and well occupied so expect some disappointment.

The Arlington represents a solid value in a three star hotel ideally situated in central Dublin. My room was exceptionally clean and comfortable and rather large by European standards. The hot water problems reported by previous guests must have been fully resolved as there was extremely hot water available at all times. And the heating system worked well too. The only reason I didn't go to a five star rating was the wifi. There appear to be two routers, one of which has a slightly stronger signal but no internet access. The other has a very weak signal but does have internet access. While I was able to connect with my laptop, my wifi phone couldn't find a strong enough signal to place a call. Perhaps some rooms have better signal strength than others, but overall the wifi performance is rather dismal. Other than that, I give high marks to this hotel and would consider it again for a future stay.

Room Tip: Rooms second floor and higher are not affected by restaurant music noise.
