“Fantastic Location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 April 2014

We stayed for one night on Saturday 29th March.
Check-in was grand, went very smoothly & with a very nice polite lady at reception.
The room was 114. It was a very big clean room. But it was very dated. The bathroom was very small but again very clean. There was no hot water but we didn’t complain as we were heading home so got washed there.
The room was a bit noisy while the music was going on. SO my suggestion to someone staying in the hotel would be to request a higher floor room.
We had breakfast included in our stay. The lady who greeted us & then seated us was fabulous. She was so lovely & friendly. The breakfast was fantastic. There was ample choice in food.

Room Tip: Request a higher floor room for less noise

Friendly staff and very quick to respond to needs; extra pillows and such. If youre looking for a hotel that us very dublin-ish, this is it. The rooms are old school, the hotel theme, etc. the beda are super uncomfortable, as well as the pillows. Everything is hard as a rock. The locafion is perfect; walking distance from everything. Most importantly; clean!

The Hotel has a great location when visiting Dublin temple bar is only a 5 minute walk over the bridge for the evenings and the main shopping areas are also only a few moments away. The hotel is a very busy hotel and has live entertainment most evenings fortunately even on the second floor I had no issues with noise when trying to get to sleep. The room was very spacious with a huge bed and flat screen television with a range of channels and a large bathroom with bath and shower facilities however the baths are very small and only inches from the floor so would not be ideal for some. Breakfast was included in the hotel and was very busy on the days I had it people often queuing waiting to be seated and also queuing for cooked items as they are not self service like the cereals, toast, juice and other items but overall a nice selection and the staff are very good bringing coffee/tea to the table upon being seated. I would stay in the hotel again it is nothing out of the ordinary if you are after a wow factor but there was no real complaints.

When looking for a hotel with a great location in Dublin, we chose the Arlington Hotel O'Connell Bridge. The rate was very high for our stay on St. Patrick's day - 170 Euros. As many people know, it is a very busy day in Dublin and this was the day that the hotel had no water at all. It was blamed on the city and they felt that giving each guest a bottle of water made up for the inconvenience. When booking on line, they should have mentioned that each and every guest room would hear their entertainment that went on until 1:00am! We enjoy fun and music like everyone else but when it is time to rest, you would enjoy having some peace and quiet. This was not possible at this hotel. Breakfast was very nice and the staff in the restaurant was super. The holiday had a great strain on their front desk staff and they were not friendly or helpful at all. Good location but not the friendly Irish folk that you would expect.

I think we were very lucky with the night we chose to see this Celtic show. The entire basement was packed. There were people from all over the world visiting and loving this music and dance. I thought I would enjoy the dance over the music, but I was so wrong. The music, or should I say the musicians, made the show. They have a great sense of humour. They did their best to have a little fun with a woman who was very drunk and got up on stage to act out "Seven Drunken Nights". The food was plentiful, but average. For the money, we felt we got a very good deal for the entertainment we received. We travelled to the west coast of Ireland looking for Trad music and was defeated. We went to Doolin, Galway and Inis Mor.... with no luck. We finished our trip in Dublin and were so happy to get some really good Irish, foot-stomping music.

My partner & I stayed here for two nights bed & breakfast. We got a better deal pre booking with the hotel itself rather than on any of the comparison sites so it's worth checking that out. The hotel is brilliantly situated... Five minute walk over the bridge & you're in temple bar!! The hop on hop off bus stops right outside the hotel and the luas is just around the corner so it's easy to get to anywhere you want to go. The aircoach to the airport is just up the rd on O'Connell St. The hotel staff were friendly & helpful, checking in & out was hassle free & the breakfast was well worth getting up for!! We had a lovely clean room and had no problem with the water as some people have reported. We had a few drinks in the Knightsbridge bar which was great... Lively & busy with a friendly atmosphere suitable for all ages. I haven't got a bad word to say about the hotel or indeed Dublin. Will definately return & when we do will be staying at the Arlington again.

We stayed at the Arlington where we finished up a B&B tour with a 2 night stay in Dublin.

The positives:
The location was fantastic. Just down from the Ha'penny bridge, it is located mere blocks from the Temple Bar area, the Grafton St shopping area, the red line tram, and there is a city tour bus stop right outside the door of the hotel.

The show was a lot of fun. Although it's very touristy and pricey, we were tourists and we hadn't had the chance to enjoy traditional music throughout our trip because we were traveling with our 8 year old. The show gave us the chance to do a "special late night" with him before leaving. He really enjoyed the dancing especially and we all had a great time. The musicians and dancers were great. The food was good, too, although nothing too terribly special.

The staff was very helpful and friendly.

The negatives:
The room, although clean and large enough, was really plain and boring. Nothing of the charm or the feel of the bar and lobby.

The walls were RIDICULOUSLY thin. We were on the first floor and we could hear the music from the show on the night we didn't attend. I could literally recognize some of the songs we heard the night before, that's how well we could hear through the floor. We also heard LOTS of people in the hallways...loud, drunk, young men yelling and being ridiculous...people walking by rolling luggage down the hall, etc. It woke me up several times during both nights.

The "view" from our room was of all the machinery gathered in the middle of the building...literally. I don't know how this could be improved...but wow...I've had bad views before, but this takes the cake. lol

Overall, I might recommend this hotel based on the location alone and the overall value for the money, but the sad thing is that it could be really great if there were some updates and work done to make it special. And seriously...some insulation in the rooms is necessary.
