“I would definitely stay here again”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 October 2010

I had booked a double twin room in advance. For 3 of the nights I was alone and for the other 2 a friend joined me. The room cost 50 euros a night so 25 each when we were both there.
I had written in advance to ask for a quiet room and they gave me the best - on the top floor in the corner next to the fire escape, which meant no-one ever had to pass the room. It was certainly quiet and comfortable.
The staff were without exception friendly and helpful. The breakfast costs 9 euros but it sets you up for the day - lots of choice in a pleasant dining area.
I would definitely stay here again.

Cassidy Hotel is best Hotel to stay in , we arrived early and they gave us the room early, staff are very effient , rooms cleaned daily, breakfast is nice, if u need breakfast early than normal this is available on request. Only one thing was a dissapointment is there is no wi fi connection in the rooms. Location is really good , tour buses are very close , airport shuttle bus, are all within 2 - 3 mins walk. there is macdonalds , burger king , post office , atm machine, tesco's all near by. If need clothes there is Pennys (primark) close by. The tourist information is all close buy to book tours , would recommend to us Paddywagontours.com if u want to do tours out of dublin. There is also the dublin bus tour green bus where u can get a pass for 26 euros for three days and hop on and off you can buy the pass from Dublin bus office opposite the tourist office on occonell street, the dublin ghost bus tour is not very good and waiste of money & dublin Castle tour inside is not very good. I would recommend the free walkng 3 hour tour out side city hall which starts a 11am & 1pm ,they will take you round dublin castle grounds, cathedral, temple bar , stephen green, trinity college. christchurch cathedral, the people that do the tour are really good and they don't get paid they just work on tips only . Overall people are friendly and helpful and would recommend dublin as lovely people, clean , lovely food . and great transport system . I will be traveling to dublin again next year .

I spent 5 nights at Cassidys Hotel last week. Very good deals available. Staff very friendly, courteous and efficient. Reception staff particularly helpful. This was especially appreciated as travelling alone-nothing was ever too much effort. Their breakfasts set you for the day and meals I had in Groomes Bar where lovely and good value. I enjoyed my stay and would go there again.

We stayed for three nights at the beginning of our visit to Ireland. We arrived earlier than the published check in time after a very long flight, however we were able to access our rooms without any problems.
I must make special mention of the staff here, who were extremely helpful and friendly, from the young lady at the reception desk who went to great effort with helping us to book a tour, to the staff in the bar and the breakfast room.

A wonderful experience from start to finish. The hotel possesses lots of charm and the rooms are well maintained. The staff was friendly and responsive. We used our Dublin hotel as a hub and scheduled many day tours throughout our 6 night stay. The location is excellent for buses and tram or just taking a walking tour of the city. Our requested wake-up calls were always there as were all the cabs we requested. We dined at the restaurant twice and had a great experience each time. The restaurant staff was exceptionally friendly and saw to our every need and request. The front desk staff were very helpful with directions and suggestions and the hotel currency exchange was one of the best rates we encountered. Two things that would make the hotel even more enjoyable would be air conditioning for some of those evenings without a breeze and the lifts are in need of some service (mechanical operation was a bit jerky).

Located at top of O'Connell Street this is excellent hotel for sightseeing. Pre-book parking as hotel only have limited spaces in a difficult to reach back entrance. The first room we were offered was clean with all usual things TV, kettle etc. However the bathroom was grotty and although it had a bath, this was chipped, peeling and had hair from previous occupant in it! Luckily the hot water wasnt working so staff moved us to another room with marginally cleaner bathroom and hot water, although it took half hour to fill the tub. Thought this room was great until we tried to get to sleep - it overlooked back of hotel, over car park and noise from either the hotel bar or a neighbouring bar or drunks on the street kept us awake - it didnt help that the refuse truck came to empty the hotel bins at 11pm. The window in the room seemed to be slightly ajar, even when i pulled it closed there was a slight gap so couldnt block out sound from below - resorted to ear plugs in the end. This would be a much better hotel if they updated the bathrooms and gave the whole place a bit of a scrub - we stayed the night before at another hotel just up the street The Castle Hotel which is far superior and would choose to go back there instead of Cassidys on our next visit to Dublin.

The location isn't so bad but do not try to drive and park your car there. The busy street makes it impossible to even unload your luggage. My husband drove around the block while I ran in and asked them where we might unload our luggage as the car park was several blocks away. I was told to pull into a one way alley in the wrong direction to unload the car. However, that proved impossible since there was traffic coming in the other direction. We requested a non-smoking room months ahead of time but they were unable to accomodate us. The room smelled awful. Thankfully the windows opened but unfortunately they were overlooking the garbage lot. The noise and odor that came into the room when the trash was collected was awful. The bathroom was shabby and not the cleanest and the bedding was frayed and old. The carpeting was very dirty. With a little TLC this could be a nice place. We were just so happy to be in Ireland that we made the best of it and we only stayed there for 2 nights at the end of our trip. You may think I'm nit picking but we were in Ireland for 2 weeks and stayed at the cleanest, coziest hotels everywhere we went. This is just an honest comparison. . My advice...stay at the Ashling in Dublin and learn the bus system. You'll enjoy it more.
