“Wonderful Experience!”
Reviewed 8 July 2014 via mobile

We had a marvelous stay while visiting Dublin with my family at the Clontarf Castle Hotel. Beautiful outside terrace and gardens, polished interiors, incredibly helpful and inviting staff and some excellent dining too, must recommend the hotel's Fahrenheit Grill restaurant for the wild mushroom rissotto. This is also a hotel that is reasonably priced for the accomodations they offer. My only qualm was that the rooms are not in an actual castle setting, but rather a contemporary one. But the exterior and lobby do offer the castle feel we were looking for. I must also add that our airline lost our bags, and they hadn't arrived at the hotel before we left on a two day tour of the Ring of Kerry. Even though we had already checked out, the hotel staff were nice enough to receive our bags a day later, e-mail us that they had been delivered (which gave us peace of mind) and store them until we picked them up two days later. Overall, a wonderful experience!

I could not believe this lovely castle the staff are a credit to the management, the food drinks etc are excellent.
I spent three nights here and will return soon I loved the place.

Easy to get to and not far from Croke Park 10 mins to the beach in a lovely are of Dublin

I will recommend this hotel to anyone going to Dublin, only 2.35 Euros on the bus and in the city in a good 15 mins.
James

Room Tip: Get a room on the first floor it is easier to get to the bars and restaurants inside the hotel

We ended our amazing Irish vacation with a final night at Clontarf Castle. We arrived very early and were pleased to be shown to our room right away. The hotel, the pub and the restaurant were amazing. Our dinner was fabulous and staff in the restaurant and throughout the hotel were top notch. We had originally been booked in downtown Dublin for our last night and could not get our room so our travel agent booked us here. Staying at the Castle was the perfect ending to our dream trip to the Emerald Isle.

Clontarf was a nice hotel, but it was just that. Don't let the name fool you - the castle remnants are only a small portion of the greater facility. Everything was clean and comfortable, much like you'd expect from a mid-scale hotel in the states. I understand that one most likely wouldn't want to stay in an authentic, unrenovated castle (dirty, too hot/cold, no running water, etc.); however, this was pretty much like staying in a Hilton hotel. We spent the other nights in Ireland staying in B&Bs and would highly recommend that route as it's cheaper and you are more immersed in local living.

The only bad side of this is that I thought the rooms would be more of a castle theme rather than a modern hotel. But the whole estate is beautiful. The rooms are nice and the bathroom was very modern. The breakfast was delicious. It's definitely a pretty place to stay. And I love that it's so close to the water.

The Clontarf Castle Hotel was an excellent choice in staying in Dublin. We found the hotel very clean, the staff excellent, the location convenient to both the Dart transportation and buses, and the food reasonable and very good.

We especially loved how they blended current rooms into the old castle, giving us the best of two worlds--up-to-date facilities for sleeping and the charm of eating in a "castle".

We enjoyed the hotel so much that we extended our stay and actually stayed there the night before we left Ireland. The hotel staff helped to arrange a very early morning taxis to the airport which only took less than 30 minutes.

Would highly recommend this hotel to all.

This medieval castle, built on the site of the big Irish Clontarf victory in the 1100s, is located in a beautiful seaside suburb of Dublin. Loved the knights! The whole hotel is nicer than we expected--booking.com doesn't begin to do it justice!

The service is outstanding! From Dymphna, the wonderful server in the outdoor cafe, to Ronan, the porter, and Cormac, the restaurant manager, who actually drove us to Galway on a bank holiday, the entire staff was incredible. Highly recommend it!

Room Tip: I always ask for a quiet room--this is a large hotel, so I had a bit of a walk but our room was grea...
