“lovely hotel”
Reviewed 11 August 2014 via mobile

Isur family of 4 stayed for 4 nights in june. We wanted to stay in a castle in the UK but still be handy. We found clontarf on the net and are glad we did. Our rental GPS didn't quite get it right but wow! Fabulous to drive up to!
Was very impressed with the ambience and reception service help with bags etc.
Our room was well appointed and clean and tidy. Even though we had booked for 4 people it was only set for 3 but this was soon remedied. Breakfast was a delight. The full Irish is a great way to start the day.
Concierge helped us get the hop on hop off bus and we were in central Dublin in no time.
The bar/restaurant was nicd. Good service and ok prices. It was nice to sit on the deck and in the little nooks.
There was some noise from the bar one night but it didnt last long.

Its a simple walk to the waterfront and a lovely restaurant called the Yacht.

The hotel gave me a sewing kit and sold me a stamp and even posted my postcard. Seems this isnt hotel standard in the UK!

The decor is gorgeous although in parts its a little worn _ especially hall and stair carpets and room bathrooms

Had a great stay and will certainly be back if we can!

We ate in the bar and enjoyed drinks on the deck. There was a bit of noise from the bar one night but it didn't go late.
We loved all the decor and little nooks and crannies. And the places to sit outside.

The concierge was helpful and we easily got the hop on hop off bus to the center of Dublin.

The hotel is in a lovely area. It is a short walk to the waterfront and a great restaurant called the Yacht. Easy to get to Dublin and plenty of free car parking!

Parts of the hotel are worn looking especially the carpet on the stairs and the room bathrooms. It didn't detract from our experience though
I was also given a sewing kit when I needed some running repairs. And they

We stay in four different city's within 8 days and this was our favorite! It was also the only hotel with USA electrical plugs. Very clean! The staff was great but Dympna was amazing! She went above and beyond to help us and also have us great travel advice. Highly recommend Clontarf Castle!

Overall it was a good stay. We had a 3 course dinner and breakfast included in our stay. It is just a hotel that looks like a castle. Only worth it if you want to go home with bragging rights that you stayed in a castle. Room was very small, but ok for our one night. The area is ok, we walked around after dinner in the neighborhood. There was a public bus driver who was bored and offered I got in the driver seat to take pictures, which was kind of neat. Overall, not worth the price but was cool to stay in a castle one night. Free wifi also worked pretty well.

We stayed here for one night as part of a tour group. The hotel was clean and it had friendly staff. The air conditioning didn't work very well and we had to open the window; however, the room was still uncomfortably hot. Also, the sheets didn't seem to be large enough and were placed on the bed in an odd way that made them slip around during the night; this increased the possibility of eventually ending up on just the mattress pad - yuck! The lobby area made it obvious that it was a castle, but the rooms didn't carry out the theme and were just typical for any hotel. Good food was served in the dining room for dinner and breakfast. Don't forget to insert the key into the card slot just inside the door so that the lights will work. Overall, this was a good hotel and I would stay there again.

Stayed here last weekend for one night to celebrate our anniversary, the whole stay was perfect, staff were so friendly, food was excellent and the room was amazing. When the hotel found out it was our anniversary we found a yummy plate of strawberries and a mini dessert with chocolate writing of Happy Anniversary in our room when we returned after a drink....lovely surprise treat which meant a lot. Breakfast is delicious and I couldnt fault the place! Great price too for B&B and Dinner included!

My son booked us into the Clontarf Castle in Dublin as a treat, he also booked us tickets for the Garth Brooks concert. Sadly the concert was cancelled but the Clontarf Castle was lovely. We were lucky enough to be be upgraded to a fantastic suite with a four poster bed, roll top bath in the bathroom. Lovely time indeed. Rather than go into Dublin we decided to visit Howth which is a seaside village about half an hour away from the hotel. We had a great evening, lovely weather and a super meal at O'Connells.

I was delighted with my choice in staying at this wonderful hotel. It was just what I needed in terms of appropriate amount of luxury and provided me with excellent surroundings in order to unwind after a couple of hectic months work. My room was spacious and tastefully decorated and was a great retreat for some needed nap time.
Staff were courteous as expected and took the time to chat when engaged.
Food was very good in restaurant and had some nice wine selections. My partner was partner was also very happy with the stay here so all round a good choice and great place to get bedded in for our trip around ireland.
