Apart from the location, the hotel ran very smoothly, we could check in at ten am, without requesting it ! very efficient reception staff, the hotel was extremely clean, room well decorated and all amenities provided. We had room only basis, but were offered breakfast for €10, which was very worthwhile, everything you could possibly eat, well presented, and again efficient. Taxis outside the door all the time.

Last week I had my second stay at the Ashling on Business. I have stayed in a few of the city centre hotels both on business and for leisure in the past, so hopefully I can compare and contrast.

The Ashling hotel is slightly west of the city centre close to the entrance to Pheonix Park. This means that unlike some of the really central hotels, you can't just step out of the door and be in the thick of things. However, don't write it off because of this as there are some distinct advantages.

Firstly the hotel is not inundated with the ubiquitous 'packs' of revellers who tend to proliferate in Dublin year-round. This is not a criticism or snobbish attitude on my part (I have been in the packs in the past!), but it means that the Staff are not jaded and the whole decor and feel of the place is much fresher. It is also quieter at night and does not suffer as much from sirens/traffic.

The Hotel is sat right on the Luas tram system and this means that you are only a few minutes ride by bus or tram from the city centre and, to my mind, this is an ideal balance between location and quality of stay. For the more active of you, it is about 15-20 minutes walk along the Liffey to O'Connell Street/Temple Bar/St Stephen's Green area.

The rooms I have stayed in were clean and warm and have air-conditioning for those rare occassions when Dublin itself feels warm. The showers were excellent with good hot water and pressure. Internet is Wireless and reasonably fast.

Prices vary but they offer some good deals. The breakfast was very good and the dining room clean and pleasant.

Stayed on the 18th Jan for one night. Again, the hotel never lets me down. This
is many of return trips to the Hotel. Again, room clean and warm, very comfortable bed and
great breakfast. It is only 4 minutes walk to the Train Station and beside the luas which will take you into the City. Good value for money.

My partner and I travelled to Ireland in May 2011 and came across the Ashling on Trip Advisor. Like a lot of accommodation choices it had mixed reviews but we got a great deal and were really pleased with a wonderful venue - the friendly and effecient check in on arrival, the fabulous large and spotlessly clean room (huge king size bed and huge bathroom with full size bath tub and rain head on the shower - bliss!) made for a magic stay in Dublin. The Ashling is in an excellent location with the Heuston train station just across the Liffey, a short walk away and The Luas tram stop is only a couple minutes walk from the front door. The restaurant food was great, we ate in on two occasions and the food was lovely and the service was outstanding and I don't say that lightly, the staff were great. Breakfast was a treat, the rooms are large, comfortable and quiet I happily and completely recommend this Hotel if you are staying in Dublin. If we do go back in the future I would not bother staying anywhere else this ticks all the boxes and I give it 10/10 for location, cleanliness, quiet, comfort, security and value.

I booked the Ashling hotel based on previous reviews and the hotels impressive website and pleased to say i was not dissapointed. The trip was our first to Dublin and was a Christmas gift for my girlfriend; now fiancee :-) So we upgraded to a Superior King room and for the small increase in price i would reccomend doing this as our room was big, comfy and had a great view overlooking the Guiness factory (which some have moaned about but we really liked) the bed was HUGE and so comfortable; bathroom equally as impressive.

We had breakfast in the Chesterfields restaurant which couldnt be faulted, continental buffet was really nice; especially the scones. Followed by the full cooked breakfast, definately money well spent.

The hotel is about a 20 minute walk into the heart of the city which was the only downside although a taxi was only around 6 euros and the walk is quite nice along the river. The tram runs right past the hotel very frequently so getting around couldnt be easier. If flying to Dublin i strongly reccomend the Airlink 747 bus; 10 Euro return and runs every 15 minutes throughout the day.

The staff were friendly throughout both on reception and in the bar where we enjoyed several drinks which weren't overly priced and the bar lunch and dinner menus were very reasonable and delicious.

I also arranged for some drinks to be put in the room as a surprise for when we returned from dinner one night; this was done by reception and along with the drinks a bowl of nuts and fruit bowl also greeted us which was very nice touch.

Room Tip: Higher level floors have a great view over the city. Upgrade to a Superior for the amazing beds and...

Stayed here fora long weekend in January. The staff were friendly, never passed you in the corridor without saying hello. Check in and check out was efficient and we were greeted with a smile every time. The security was of a high level - front door manned throughout our stay and swipe card needed to access corridors made me feel extra secure.

The Luas stops right outside the hotel and the train station is a minutes walk away. The hotel is within walking distance of the city centre and fantastic attractions such as the Guiness Storehouse and Dublin Zoo are nearby too.

The hotel is not noisy - not once did we hear any noise from outside and we had a great view of Dublin from our 3rd floor bedroom. We only booked a standard double but were pleased to find that we had alarge family room with a double and single bed.

The toiletries were replaced daily as were the vast choice of teas and coffee and biscuits in the room.

I would definitely stay here again if I return to Dublin.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor to get a view of Dublin
