“Very nice hotel, lovely location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 April 2014 via mobile

We deliberately chose a hotel out of the centre and it was the right choice, the trams are quick andefficient and the centre was reached in ten minutes. Many attractions can be walked to, Dublin Zoo and Phoenix Park, Guinness Storehouse, Museum of Ireland and the Jameson Distillery is walkable but slight further away.
The rooms were fine with plenty of tea and toiletries provided. The breakfast had a huge range of food , as I am on a very restricted diet I was pleased not to feel hard done by and had a good breakfast each morning.
Only criticism would be the restaurant in the bar , we went down one day at 6 and it was heaving so we enquired if there was a better time to go, the staff suggested 8pm, so the next night we went at eight, still heaving. Though the staff were lovely the restaurant is not big enough to deal with it's potential customers. The staff always eventually found us a table but there was a lot of waiting around .

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay at the Ashling Hotel. I was delighted to read all of your thoughts, especially those about our location and the food. I am glad you were able to get a good breakfast, with your restricted diet. Our bar is very popular for food, so often there will be a bit of a wait, but I am pleased to hear that you got a table and hopefully you enjoyed your dinner. I hope to welcome you back to us again soon.

Kind Regards

We recently stayed at the Ashling for one night. The rooms are vern nice, clean and comfortable. The surrounding area is just OK and there is security working the door. Guiness is directly across the river from the hotel and the area surrounding Guiness is not safe. There is a train that stops near the hotel that can take you to temple bar in 5 minutes. The staff were great and the hotel bar was nice. There are a few pubs close by if you didn't want to go to the hotel bar. We did not eat at the hotel so I cannot comment on the restaurant.

We stayed at this fabulaous hotel for my husband's birthday, 3 nights from 11th April - 14th April 2014. Check in was very staright forward and we even got an upgarde to a queen room, although the view from this window wasnt much - over looking a courtyard but then again how much time do you spend looking out of the window. Room very celan and tidy, lovely wet room and tea and coffee making facilties. Breakfast was brillaint so much to choose from. We had a cooked breakfast each morning, lovely hot and fresh food. Staff were very intentive serving tea or coffee as soon as you sat down. We used the bar each day and yet again brilliant service. The menu for evening meal looked fab and we were going to try it one eveing but never got round to it. Hotel is situated near to atractions and it doesnt take long to walk to Temple Bar. This is my third trip to Dublin and the Ashling Hotel is the best one I have stayed in and we will most definently use it again in the future - its our favourite.

Cannot recommend this hotel enough. We only stayed for 1 night but would love to go back again. The room we stayed in was overlooking a park outside & we just felt so relaxed from the time we arrived, also bed was very comfy. We ate in the bar in the evening & food was great, the luas goes right past the door so very convenient. Would definitely go back :)

The hotel location is excellent!! Close to the centre hence taxi trips were not expensive and you can walk to the Guinness Storehouse! It is also close to tram stops to get to the Connolly station or other parts of the Dublin centre. The hotel lobby is very nice and tastefully decorated. It made us feel welcomed and relaxed. The check-in staff were pleasant and efficient. The room was find, however for a 4 star hotel it could really do with an improvement because the room furniture and decor were a bit dated.

We went to the hotel bar, originally planned to have a few drinks before heading out to Temple Bar for something to eat and enjoy some live music, but ended up leaving early because we didn't have a very good experience. After we sat down in the bar, it was busy (a restaurant/bar) so it took us a few minutes longer than expected before our drinks order were taken, which was ok. The waitress forgot what we ordered and had to come back and check with us. About 15 minutes later the drinks were nowhere to be seen. We had to chase for our drinks and the waitress said were on their way. Another 5-7 minutes later the drinks didn't arrive and we asked another member of staff to chase it up for us. We were told they are making it now and the drinks eventually arrived. We didn't get an apology from the staff but didn't make a fuss as we just want to have a relaxing time. First taste of the cocktails - they were nice - if we ordered non alcoholic drinks! We ordered alcoholic cocktails but we could hardly taste the alcohol in them. They tasted more like fruit punch you can easily make in your own home. Ok, the restaurant/bar was busy that night but waiting almost 30 minutes for a couple of drinks and paid nearly 30 euros for them?! Really?! We wouldn't mind if the drinks were excellent and worth waiting for. We finished our drinks quickly and decided not to stay as originally planned - before it ruins the rest of the night for us. We were a bit put off to try out the restaurant for breakfast in the morning as well. Checking out was swift, again met by pleasant and friendly reception staff. A bit of a shame they didn't ask how was our stay so that we could have praised them and provided other feedback straight away.

We visit Dublin very often and stayed in different hotels. In summary, the location, the general atmosphere and front desk/reception experience of this hotel, we would say it was excellent! The room was ok for the price we paid for. But other services and some of the rooms need improvements.

Thank you for your comments about your recent stay at the Ashling Hotel. I do apologise for your experience in the bar. We do not want anyone to be waiting so long for their drinks, and I do understand that cocktails will take a little longer, but to wait 30 minutes is unacceptable. So for that, I thank you for bringing this to my attention, as I will now look to see what changes need to be made to make sure this does not happen again. Thank you for saying that all other aspects of your stay were enjoyable and I hope you remember those and return to stay with us again.

My partner and I stayed in the Ashling for 4 days over valentines weekend and i cannot fault the hotel.
The room was a superiour delux king size room with the largest bathroom i have seen by far in a hotel! It was beautifully decorated and the views out to the front of the hotel of the river were lovely. It was clean and tidy and everything that could have been wanted for a weekend away.
The hotel location is fantastic with a tram stop both to the left and right of the hotel and a train station just over the bridge. It is very well connected to the city centre as well as the Zoo and Guinness factory.
We dined in both the resturant and the bar and found the food selection to be absolutely delicious on both accounts. The staff are friendly and even when very busy take the time to ensure that your completely satisfied.
I would thoroughly reccommend this hotel for any visitis to Dublin and will be sure to stay again when i visit again.
A wonderful hotel!
