“Would definitely come back”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

The bathroom wasn't clean as it had hair EVERYWHERE and the carpets definitely need cleaning in the rooms. i was afraid to walk barefoot.
HOWEVER - the staff was the best i've ever dealt with! the beds were comfortable and the breakfast is by far the best free one i've had in years. it's also in a perfect location being extremely close to downtown dublin and within a very short walk to most of the tour lines. great place for the most part!

We stayed for 3 nights and found the hotel to be well situated for exploring Dublin. The hotel had a decent restaurant and comfortable and clean rooms. We used the tram to reach the center which was convenient.

We stayed two nights at the Ashling and found the room and breakfast buffet better than any of the other hotels at which we stayed on a 2+-week tour of the British Isles. Our room had a great shower, and lots of towels and toiletries (even an emery board and Q-tips). One thing I didn't care for that turned out to be true of other hotels in Ireland is that the hot and cold spigots were separated in the lavatory, so there was no easy way to get warm water; it was either scalding or ice cold. The location of the Ashling seemed to be quite convenient, and a tram line runs right in front of the hotel. In addition to the usual things for breakfast in the U.K., the Ashling's spread included every conceivable kind of nut for topping cereal. I can't really comment on the price, as our room and most of our board was prepaid for the tour. Bottom line: we stayed at several different hotels on the trip, and this was the best by far.

Very nice hotel, clean, comfortable and very friendly, helpful staff. We had a room facing the Liffey river which was nice, the only grumble was the noise from busy road outside. Could do with new double glazed windows to shut out the noise at night.

Room Tip: Rooms at front of hotel noisy from road outside

Found this hotel when looking for something close to the railway station for our onward trip to the west coast. And I couldn't have been more delighted. A gorgeous hotel, the most friendly staff and lovely food, catering for all tastes and food intolerances. Rooms were comfortable and well equipped, what more could you want?

On our way back home, we were able to leave our bags and spend a few last hours in Dublin even though we hadn't stayed in the hotel for a couple of days. Talk about service!! The staff couldn't do enough for you. Lovely, lovely, would definitely return.

Good hotel busy with tourists and also corporate clients
rooms offer a tray with tea and coffee making facilities and lovely shortbread
beds comfortable
bathrooms offer vanity packs
choice of restaurant or bar food - restaurant offers better service expensive but you are paying for more selection on menu, more staff in restaurant and a better evening meal
bar is ordinary not special service never that good in my experience always waiting ages to be attended and not necessarily good service offered - a busy bar area
location is just a few minutes from Heuston Train and LUAS tram stops nearby for excellent access to Dublin

Room Tip: room at front offers view of guinness factory although noisy due to tram lines rooms at rear quie...

Our family just returned from a 9 day trip to Ireland. We landed in Dublin and stayed at the Ashling for 1 day. It was a nice, clean hotel that was well located near the Luas. The breakfast was very good. We traveled the countryside and then stayed at the Ashling before we returned yesterday to the states. We had 8 in our group and the rooms had more then enough space for a comfortable stay. The one suggestion i would have for first time travelers is to eat in the pub side of the hotel. The prices are almost 1/2 of the resturant price. It doesn't have the fancy resturant atmosphere but it was still good. I would stay at the Ashling again.
