“Very satisfied with our stay here”
Reviewed 3 January 2006

We stayed at this hotel early in December on a weekend trip with a local coach tour operator. Our first impression of the exterior worried us however when we entered reception it was warm and cosy with an open fire and was tastefully decorated for Christmas. The rooms were more than adequate for a 3 star hotel, very much on the theme of a travel lodge or travel inn in this country, and they were fully equipped with a TV, Tea/Coffee making facilities and ensuite bathroom. The rooms were clean, well decorated and warm and comfortable. Breakfast was very good as well with cereal/cooked breakfast/toast and preserves on offer as well as tea and coffee. However, our room had very little in the way of a view over the River Liffey! The hotel is a little out of the centre of Dublin, it took us 30 minutes to walk to the main shopping centre but it was a pleasant and flat walk on a good day alongside the River Liffey. If you prefer not to walk the tram station was a couple of minutes walk away and the prices were reasonable but I would recommend you don't return to your hotel during the rush hour as it was almost impossible to board a tram at this time of day from one of the main stops (but it was Christmas!)Overall we were very satisfied with our stay here and we would definately use this hotel again.

My wife and I stayed at the Ashling in Oct. We chose it because our daughters name is ASHLIN and the hotel was very like her, lovely, homely and really nice.
The Train station is opposite for transfers to the airport, the hopon-hopoff bus goes right past the door, and the Luas provides a quick cheap trip to town.
I booked through the BEST WESTERN site and got the best price including breakfast, which was excellent. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The room was clean, warm and no smoking. On departure they even minded out bags all day until we were going to the Airport.
When in Dublin I can recommend two things to do:
Go to the BRAZEN INN - very old pub with history ;
go to Arlington Hotel for dinner, music and dancing.

My last night in Ireland was spent at the Ashling, and was it unforgetable or rather I wish I could forget my experience there!!! As I walked in to "their last room", booked previously through Orbitz, the room smelled of mildew, smoke (I requested non-smoking!), it had 4 beds (I was alone), burn marks on everything, a T.V. the size a postcard, I coundn't control the temperature of the room, theres more, but I'll stop here. Perhaps there are better rooms in the hotel, but I had a terrible experience!

The hotel is very nice. Dublin's new tram service goes right by, making it easy to get to the night life for 2.50 euro round trip. The staff was very helpful. My only complaint is with the overpriced restaurant. 12.50 for a "full Irish breakfast" or 8.95 for a roll and a cup of coffee is a bit over the top. They seemed to be relying on the fact there aren't many restaurants nearby. But a better dinner and better value can be found up the street at Nancy Hand's and a hearty breakfast for half the price is available at the restaurant/pub attached to the Hueston train station right across the bridge.
Aside from the restaurant, I wouldn't hestitate to stay in this hotel again.

Stayed for 2 nights at the Ashling in Dublin due to its loaction on the LUAS Tram. Ideal as it is not in the Noisy Centre and only a short ride away from all the Night Life of the Temple Bar area.
I got a lovely comfortable double bed room and was quite impressed with the bathroom, quite big for what I was expecting. Overall had a lovey stay, very quite and deffinately very nice helpfull staff. Would recommend and will return again. Car parking is a deffinate benefit and lots of spaces, nearly 1 for everyone.....
