“Friendly staff, spotless room, Great experience,”
Reviewed 29 July 2010

We stayed for one night after a day in the zoo (literally 10 minutes walk) we have two kids under 3 and we were made to feel very welcome from the start. The family room (large triple) was spotless! and both the room and the en suite were modern and spacious.
The B&B rate was average for Dublin (extortion! but that Dublin for you), that being said it was relatively good value for money. The buffet breakfast was good, continental or Irish was available with a good selection of foods. A clean hotel room! good quality Food! What’s next friendly staff....actually yes!
The staff at the hotel were its best asset, everyone we dealt with from baggage check in to the breakfast staff should be used as an example of what service in a hotel should be like.
The only downside is that it’s a nice walk (maybe 2 km) to O’Connell street. We will be back for our next stay in Dublin. Excellent.

Perfectly situated a very short walk from Heuston Station - the terminus for the Airlink bus - this hotel is within walking distance of the city centre, which can also be reached in less than 10 minutes by the LUAS tram which passes the front door of the hotel, almost soundlessly. It is also a short walk from the Guiness Storehouse and the Jameson Distillery.
The staff couldn't do enough for us during our stay . The quality of the food was excellent. We had breakfast (full Irish !) and dinner in the resturant and lunch in the Iveagh Bar.
If I had one complaint it would be the lack of air conditioning in the bedrooms. They were very hot during the night which didn't help sleep ! This is probably great in winter but isn't great during a hot July.
Apart from that I would recommend the Ashling Hotel to anyone looking for a conveniently situated base when visiting Dublin.

Stayed Here for 3 days, the hotel is well placed for the centre only about 1 mile away and a tram passes the hotel which takes you into the centre.

The food in the hotel was very good, 3 course meal was €30, breakfast you had a great selection to pick from.

The drinks were expensive €6 for a pint of coke

The hotel also has free secured parking, and all modern cons.

The rooms were also good, no problems well worth the money .

Cannot fault this hotel. Clean, with friendly staff, a very good breakfast and good bar food.
We travelled by airport shuttle direct to Heuston Station and walked the 200m to the hotel. The hotel lies on the Luas line, so it's easy to get around the city.

My wife and I could be termed fussy, but we would really struggle to find any negatives about the Best Western Ashling.

Stayed at the Ashling for a long weekend, all the staff are very friendly. Had a very nice room facing towards Collings barracks although a bit noisy at night when people were leaving the pubs, so if your a light sleeper take some ear plugs!! Very convenient for Hueston station, it took us about 30 mins to get from the airport at a cost of 10 euros very good value. Didn't use the Luas as we walked everywhere about 20mins to the city centre. Very close to Kilmainham Goal which was very interesting. Had lunch in the bar before we checked out which was very good.

This hotel was very impressive and the room was beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. There was also a small restaurant/pub on the main floor and the lunch was delicious. There was a beautiful park across the street and you could catch the tram just about a block away. All in all, a very nice experience.

I have just spent a night in the Ashling and was very impressed with everything. A few years ago this is not a hotel I would have considered staying in. It has had a complete makeover. The room was clean and the staff were very polite and helpful. Good choice for breakfast too. Location suited me perfectly as I was heading for the train station early next morning - it is just across the road. The Luas passes right outside for transport into the heart of the city centre. Also I got a great rate over the internet - €87 for a double room with breakfast. Would definitely stay in the Ashling again. Ideal for anyone who doesn't really want to be in the midst of the busy city centre.
