I've stayed at this hotel a couple of times, and I've fallen in love with it. It's so close to everything! O'Connell Street is just up the road and the Airlink and the Hop On Hop Off buses stop right outside the hotel. You're also within walking distance to many of Dublin's attractions. Staying at this hotel makes it so easy to get around the city and see everything. The hotel is clean, and the staff is very helpful. Rooms are kinda small, but the beds are very comfy.
My only complaint would have to be the free wifi. Love that the hotel offers free wifi, but for some reason it didn't work. Would've much rather payed for wifi that actually worked.

Rooms were modern - for some reason we were assigned a handicap access room, so the shower was a bit awkward, but otherwise the accomodations were great. had full breakfast each morning here as well. staff was friendly, responsive and efficient, food was very good. The location was amazing - 1 block off O'Connell St, so everything we wanted was right at our door.

If you want to stay in the city center of Dublin this is a very good choice. The hotel is in a good condition and the location is in a quiet location. The rooms are small but clean and fresh with a very comfy bed! The staff is friendly and the breakfast has everything that at least I need for a good start of the day. The bar in the lobby is not very cozy, but ok for a quick drink. My company also used one of the conference rooms and it was nice and it came with very good service. The hotel is just a 15-20 mins walk to the temple Bar area and 5 mins walk to shopping. A must is to visit Palace Bar in Temple Bar area!

Dear Omnidude

Thank you for sharing your feedback on TripAdvisor. We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay and Dublin City. Our hotel is a great choice for anyone looking to explore Dublin City and I am glad to see you agree too. Our friendly and attentive staff are at hand to help and assist any query any guest may have. We were delighted we accommodated you on your stay and for your conference too. We hold many conferences here and we are glad to see we have held another successful one.

I am sorry to read you found that our bar not very cosy, people often comment on how relaxed and enjoyable it is for drink or a snack before they head out to see the sights of Dublin. We do have plans in the pipeline to further renovate the bar area and we hope to see some works finalised in the near future. We do hope you would come back and visit us again soon where we hope we can impress your stay even further on your return.

Thank you for your review. We would love to hear from you again and should you wish to discuss anything further you can contact us on wecare@academyplazahotel.ie

Very close to all the attractions of Dublin. Located ultra - central , yet is in a quiet area. Airport Bus stops in front of the hotel .
I've been here 11 days and every day things have happened the same ( breakfast, cleaning ) which means that there are quality services. Every day they changed towels and daily maid service was exemplary . At the time we stayed we found that many of the " occupiers " were people of the third age .
Evening came 2-3 buses full , tourists spent a day visiting the city , and the next morning went on to other destinations . There were Norwegians, Swedes, French and even English or Spanish .
Though busy all the time, literally at any time , the staff had time for everyone. There seems to be Irish (except maybe some of the reception) and see the skin color or features , but they were as friendly and as they are available .
You can not say that there is something special in the vicinity of the hotel because it is located in the middle of town and so all are there at hand.
Find food for every budget , are fun places to visit and a few minutes walk , and for those who want to shop , stores are also very close.
My impressions of Ireland are still very strong, so I would like to describe them in other reviews.

Dear Emilian M

Thank you so much for your fantastic and informative review about your stay with us. We are delighted to see that you really found our location to be so good, it is. And we are just off O'Connell street which as you say is that little bit quieter than being on the main thoroughfare. To read "A friendly International hotel' is fantastic to read because we are. We love welcoming people to Dublin and Ireland and to help showcase how great our city and country is. Our housekeepers work very hard in maintaining the high standard they set. Thank you for mentioning them. We are a very busy hotel but we like to think we give each customer the time they deserve and as you say "they had time for everyone". All our staff are at hand to give advice or insights into Dublin city for any activity they wish to partake on.

We are so thankful for your great review and we are so glad that your impressions of Ireland are still strong. We like to think we give everyone the big welcome they deserve here and we hope we can welcome you back in the near future too.

Warm Regards

Stayed here as part of a tour. Location just off O'Connell Street puts you in the heart of Dublin, just a short walk across the River Liffey from Trinity College, Grafton Street, Temple Bar, and more. Don't plan to spend much time in the hotel - the rooms are clean and well maintained, but also the smallest I have ever stayed in.

Room Tip: The corridors are a maze - get a room near the elevator unless you want to wander

Dear chrissrli

Thank you for sharing your review and letting us know how you enjoyed your stay. Its great to read that you gained that special advantage of being so close to all the amenities in Dublin City Centre. We are delighted that you have gifted us with your comments about our clean and well maintained rooms. Our housekeeping staff work so hard in keeping a high level of cleanliness. I am disappointed to read that you have found your rooms small. On a side note we do have the availability of upgrading our guests to our executive suites for only €19.00. These are available on request and boast a large superior room extra amenities.

Perhaps you could email me on wecare@academyplazahotel.ie where I can further see what room you were allocated. Due to the anonymity of TripAdvisor I cannot do a full enquiry into your stay details.

We would love to hear from you. Thank you again for the feedback.

Excellent Hotel. We had a triple share room, with a single bed and a double. The room was small, but clean and modern. The location of the hotel cannot be beat! Do not take a taxi from the airport, take the bus for 6 Euro each. The stop is right in front of the hotel. Takes about 30 minutes. The breakfast buffet, while pricey, was very good!!!! There is a offer that if you pay for your buffet the day you arrive, you can have breakfast for 10 Euro each. We took advantage of this on the days we were not doing a day tour. The hop-on hop-off is right outside the door as well. Only advise is that IF you plan to do a day tour to Belfast or the Cliffs (we did both) to book in advance and pay online, it is 25% cheaper and you pay in your own currency! There is a Euro Store (like a dollar store in Canada or a 99 cent store in the USA) less than a block away that sells snacks and soda pop at 4 for a Euro, so stop by there for your snacks and do not pay the hotel vending prices!

Dear Gibs

We are delighted to read you fantastic review. We do like to think as you put it have a "Perfect Location" it is something we are very thankful for as it gifts our guests with literally a fantastic starting point for Dublin City Centre. We are very close and central to all the amenities that Dublin has to offer. The Airlink 747 bus is a wonderful advantage for us to leave from our front door and a very reasonable price too. Its great to see you have availed of it along with the Hop on Hop off City Bus tour.

We have many great advantages here in the hotel and I am so glad to read you enjoyed Dublin and our hotel so much. Thank you again for sharing your review.

I've stayed at this hotel just recently, with my friend on our weekend trip to Dublin. This is a four stars hotel with a perfect location and an excellent service. Lovely, well maintained and clean rooms; friendly and most helpful staff; plus if you are a smoker (I am) you can choose a smoking room. The rooms are so well maintained that you can't feel the smell of a cigarette.
Hotel's location is perfect because, first of all there's a 747 bus line stop (the bus that takes you from and to the airport) just out side of the hotel as well as a hop-on hop-off tour bus; taxi stand and when you turn around the corner you're on the O'Connell Street meaning that everything is within a walking distance.

Room Tip: There's a bar just next to the hotel and by the looks of it a very popular bar. Even if you get...
