“Bad. Bad. Bad”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 August 2014

I booked my room through trip advisor and got a pretty decent rate - still, not particularly cheap. Still, I got the impression that I was put into the worst available room in the basement of this crummy hotel. The room STANK of damp. It was a really strong smell, that made it pretty much inhabitable. Additionally it was very cold, despite the fact that it was a hot week in Dublin at the start of August. God knows how cold it'll be in December/January.

When I asked reception if there was any way to turn the heating on, they said no and told me they'd give me an electric heater, but this never happened. They also laughed at the suggestion that the room was cold, but believe me it really was. This truly is the worst hotel I have ever stayed in, and I've stayed in some bad ones. Bad room. Bad service. Bad smell. Give it a miss

Room Tip: book somewhere else!

Hi Phil M

Thank you for taking the time to write a review on your recent stay with us in the Maple Hotel Dublin. We are sorry that you did not find your stay satisfactory.

We do have rooms downstairs but these room are in no way damp, they are done to the same standard as all of our other rooms. We understand that some guests can find Dublin cold at times compared to what they would be used to and for this we are happy to supply extra duvets etc… Please ask at reception it is open 24 hours. Our heating is on a timer and in the summer months this time is reduced due to the warmer weather.

Again we are sorry your stay was not up to your expectations.

Kind Regards,
Management and Staff,
Maple Hotel, Dublin City Centre

Room smelt of smoke, the bed linen was clean n towels, the stairs going down into the dining room are dangerousness and need repairing, breakfast was ok, overall needs a facelift but if you get it at a cheaper rate than we payed I guess it's ok

Room Tip: Need a facelift all the hotel

Recently stayed at the Maple Hotel for four nights. The location of the hotel is great, it's a very basic hotel but meets the basic needs. Rooms were clean, bathroom in our room had been recently redone. We faced the street and the windows are only single pane so street noise was constant although not that bothersome. What did bother me was the fact that smoking was allowed in the back room of the bar and the smell of smoke carried up the stairs to the second floor where our room was. At 12:10 a.m. on the morning that we were leaving the fire alarm went off. Jumped out of bed and got dressed to leave the hotel when the alarm went off. I called the front desk to be told that everything was ok, it was just the smoking in the back room that set off the alarm. To me this is unacceptable, Ireland has a no smoking policy and clearly this hotel does not adhere to it. The front desk people were very friendly and helpful and like I said the location was great. Go down the street to O'Shea's Bar for a great time ... no smoking and great entertainment.

Room Tip: Rooms on the back side away from the street should be quieter.

I rate my experience 3 of 5 mainly due to the uncomfortable bed and bar area was not comfortable and smelled like an ashtray. That being said, the staff cleans the rooms very well and the value for the location was above average. This property was a bit of a trade off. If you intend to use it as a base of operations and want to be in a good spot to spend time in the city, it's a good basic 2 star option.

I think that if you want a nice hotel in the city centre Maple is the best choice! The room was clean, it wasn't noisy at all so we could sleep, the staff was helpful.
There was free coffee and tea making facilities, shower gel and soap. The bathroom was clean they changed the towels daily.
All in all it was the best choice at this price!
I can absolutely recommend it.

I travelled to Maple Hotel with my boyfriend as the price was affordable and on booking.com the pictures were really pretty about it. I was a bit concered, however, as I read reviews about the hotel on tripadvisor and most of them were absolutely positive but some said it is not that good.
We arrived late at night and we were sooo happy to see that the hotel is just amazing! The bus from the airport stopped 10 meters from the hotel so we didn't have to walk long at night to get there. The receptionist was helpful, he gave us the keys and we went to our room. It was so pretty and clean just like in the pictures. We got what we expected. There were even coffee and tea making facilities, our room was cleaned every day. And I have to tell that unlike it was said in some reviews, for us the street wasn't that noisy (and our room window faced to the street) so we could easily fall asleep without using earplugs and neither the bar was smelly and noisy at all and the wifi worked perfectly.
And when we needed anything, for example a hairdryer the recepcionist gave us one to use it until we stayed in the hotel.
Not to mention that the Maple Hotel is situated right in the city center and everything is about a 10 minutes walk from it. After we checked out, we could leave our baggages in the reception as we got a late flight.
So overall we really loved the hotel, it had everything we needed. And for this price it is just unbelievable. Surely, it is not a 5-star hotel so if you want luxury, it is not the best hotel for you. But we wanted to visit the city and not staying in the hotel all day long.
Thank you so much for this wonderful time Maple Hotel! :) We will definitely go back here if we travell to Dublin again.

A lovely hotel, just five minutes walk from O'Connell Street, with excellent service, very friendly and helpful staff, and very reasonable prices. The hotel has a very lively and beautifully decorated Irish bar, with the best bar man in Dublin - Mossey Tynan - with a pint for four euro. You really will not do better than that in Dublin. I had many a happy time in the Maple, and will do so again in the near future. I highly recommend the Maple Hotel to family groups or individual travelers.
